Of course he’s not telling the truth about ‘protecting free speech’, he’s a Tory and his lips are moving.

I see that Mark Harper the Transport Secretary has pledged on the Sophie Ridge show on Sky that the Online Safety Bill currently making its way through Parliament will not harm freedom of speech.

Somehow I can’t find it in myself to actually believe him to be quite frank. It might have something to do with being lied to by the Tories on so many other occasions and on so many other issues such as energy security, immigration, the economy and national security, that makes me unwary in the extreme to trust the Tories with doing any thing positive that would protect or enhance freedom of speech in the UK. I call ‘bullshit’ on Mr Harper’s promises.

  1. Sadly our UK democracy is I believe almost dead. It is no longer possible or even reasonable to believe anything a UK politician says. Humans predict the future by looking at the past and I can’t honestly remember a politicians promise that has actually been really kept. I can remember being treated to lame excuses and twisted words and that’s about all. The one constant is the sound of frantic nest feathering, that you can depend on.
