So little change then to London’s policing.

Sir Mark Rowley the new Metropolitan Police Commissioner telling people that their policing will be just a bit more shit than usual.

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police has said that the force is going to be considerably overstretched because of having to provide cover for striking public sector workers including ambulance staff.  Commissioner Mark Rowley has said that because of the demands on their services that they might not be able to deal with knife crime, which must be tremendously reassuring for those in boroughs like Lambeth and Lewisham which have in 2021 suffered from 98 weapons crimes per 100,000 population.

Also as Londoners also have to put up with a burglary clear up rate of less than 7%, I very much doubt that even with the need to provide cover for strikers, that Londoners will notice much difference in their already piss poor police force.

So an already poor police force will provide an even poorer service to London’s residents.  What a time to be alive.  What  a terrible time to be a law abiding Londoner.  It seems that there will be little change to London’s already bad policing service.

Under which government were police numbers reduced ? Which government has been in power for thirteen years ?

    • That would be the once mighty Conservative party, presently heading for electoral wipe out caused by their sleaze and inept government. Three prime ministers in year and about to bring about a return to real Victorian values like destitution and the poor dying in the cold during winter. The new Dickensian age of Conservativism has at last arrived.

It’s like looking at the Major government but worse looking at today’s Tories. At least under Major there were some things that they were competent at, unlike this lot who seem completely incompetent at everything. Three PM’s in a year is a bit too reminiscent of some of Rome’s more turbulent times. Yeah Dickens hated Tories and was an old school liberal. It comes to something when yu look at the Tories is seeing that all they’ve got going for them is that they are ‘not Labour’. Yup I t hink we are looking at a, well deserved, wipe out. Next years locals might provide some interesting data.

Have a good one. I’m now on my second wine

It’s obviously the Tories. Policing is one of a number of areas that the Tories have let Britons down about.

  2. So for a little while London will have a few less police about. In my area we don’t see any police presence for up to 6 months at a time, welcome to the real world. Policing now seems to concentrate on enforcement of TV licence crime and harassing motorists, but only those who are normally law abiding and will pay up. A career as a criminal is now a valid choice with the chances of being caught near nil and if you are that unfortunate it will take years to get you to court for anything up to 20 second chances.

You touch on one of the keys to reducing crime, which is certainty of punishment. With such low clear up rates a clever criminal can quite easily evade the law as it’s the stupid crims who all too often get caught.

      • Indeed so, it has been my experience that in my area crime is now nothing more than an insurance matter. The police here will go to any length to avoid recording a crime including telling you outrageous lies and once said they couldn’t attend something I reported because because they couldn’t find my post code.

  3. I find it funny that socialists blame the whole country being a total shitshow on the Tories when the problem is socialism. The problems aren’t caused by Tories because they aren’t Tories, they are socialists. Massive bloated bureaucracy, check. Out of control public spending and massive and ever increasing government debt, check. Constant interference in matters that politicians are far too stupid to understand, check. How are they any different from Labour or the Lib Dems?

I agree there. The tories following quasi socialist policies is a big part of the problem. To paraphrase Orwell in ‘Animal Farm’: ‘I looked from Tory to Lib Dem and back and I could not tell any damned difference’
