A reminder. Jihadist nutbags have not gone away.

Although the attention of many in this world, especially in the West, is mostly consumed with the problems related to their government’s mismanagement of the economy and energy supplies, this recent story from Germany is important to remind us that the scourge of Jihadism has not gone away.

The BBC said:

A 32-year-old Iranian man has been arrested in Germany for allegedly plotting an “Islamist-motivated” attack.

The man had been plotting to use cyanide and ricin to commit a “serious act of violence”, North Rhine-Westphalia police said in a statement.

They raided the man’s Castrop-Rauxel residence, in the Ruhr region, but prosecutors said no poison was found.

The suspect’s brother was also arrested and the pair remain in custody.

While they did not find poison, police did seize electronic devices from the residence.

A Düsseldorf senior public prosecutor said the tip-off about the man came from a friendly foreign intelligence service.

From reading the article and reading between the lines it contains, it appears that this plot has been disrupted at a very early stage. So far no poison has been discovered and no actual terrorist attack has been carried out. I suspect that whether or not this man will be charged and put on trial might depend on what information is contained in his various devices.

But this case is a very important and timely reminder that although there are a great deal of other problems in this world the Jihadist problem has not gone away.
