A classic sci fi / horror movie for you all this weekend.  This is the 1962 version of John Wyndham’s ‘The Day of The Triffids’.

I’ve seen lots of versions of this story and have read the original book a few times as well but this version is the one that for me I’m the most happy with.  The plot device of the man who survives by chance and who then has to make his way in a greatly changed and hostile world is a good one and the story moves with not just a good pace but also poses moral questions to the viewer such as when or if those in a hopeless state should be abandoned in favour of those for whom there is hope.
