The Left reveal themselves over Nigel Farage and it’s not pretty.

Go for it Nigel, take the dodgy left aligned banks down.

Nigel Farage has done the whole country a favour by revealing that he was debanked by the Coutts Bank subsidiary of Nat West Bank. When Mr Farage decided that he would challenge both the bank’s decision to debank him and the bank’s claim that his debanking was a commercial not a political decision, he brought in to public awareness a problem that has been going on almost uncommented on for years and that is the scandal of the debanking of those Britons who have the ‘wrong’ (wrong according to the Left Establishment) views.

I first saw this phenomenon when the neo-Nazi group Patriotic Alternative not only lost or were refused a bank account for their organisation but that senior members of this group also had their personal accounts terminated. When this was brought to my attention, although I despise Patriotic Alternative and a great deal of what they stand for, along with their parasitism on other ostensibly worthy causes, I didn’t go over the top and celebrate this debanking. On the contrary I could see that this debanking phenomena would not stop there with despicable neo-Nazis and that other groups, whether they be of the Left or of the Right which challenged Establishment orthodoxies would most certainly suffer the same fate. It’s similar to how censoring people like Alex Jones, a person who has for many years on my ‘don’t quote or take seriously’ list and is a recognised loon, didn’t stop with Alex Jones and indeed got worse and worse with people now being censored in their thousands.

Now we have a situation where awareness is growing that it’s not just Nigel Farage who has been debanked for seemingly political reasons. There are also other groups ranging from feminists, gender critical campaigners for children’s safety and even high profile Remain campaigners have found themselves denied bank accounts or have had bank accounts closed. In effect what has been created over the last few years is a banking culture that polices what their customers can say or what causes they can support. I can see that a banking system that acts as a censor is not something that is good for any society. Debanking is a serious and dangerous cudgel and a weapon that can be used to restrict the operation of civil society by preventing those who wish to challenge orthodox political, cultural and religious views from effectual operating in society because those challenging these orthodoxies cannot get banking facilities. Debanking could create a society of individuals too fearful of losing banking facilities to point out that the Emperor has no clothes, even if pointing such a thing out is the right and proper thing to do, such as before the Emperor went naked into a high level diplomatic meeting.

I’m on the centre-right mainly but I can see how debanking affects everyone in a negative way. As well as creating problems for those with whom I vehemently disagree, such as Patriotic Alternative and ‘out there‘ Christian groups, debanking also adversely affects those groups and causes that I would support, such as parents challenging the now extremely pervasive gender ideology. Political debanking, including political debanking disguised by some other excuse, is wrong per se and is also likely to eventually to apply to many more people and groups other than those that are despised by the Left.

If I can recognise the wrongness of the political debanking of groups and individuals that are not connected to terrorism and who are debanked merely because they do not subscribe to some parts of Establishment Orthodoxy, then why cannot the Left? After all the weapons of censorship and debanking although they might be used against the Left’s enemies today could quite easily be turned on the Left tomorrow.

The Left should know this. They should understand that weapons that are used against their political enemies might well end up being used against them. If a wind of change blows (and I’d argue that in the area of Trans the wind has already changed) then at some point in the future it might not be Nigel Farage being debanked it could be the Socialist Workers Party or some other Left wing group or groupuscule.

I’ve seen an awful lot of idiot thinking from those who may well describe themselves as being on the Left and Centre Left over the Nigel Farage banking scandal. A lot of them were celebrating the debanking of Mr Farage and treating it as the correct thing to do and sometimes having highly deranged takes on the matter. This tribal Left didn’t seem to think for one moment whether the actions they were celebrating might one day hit a left wing organisation or cause. It was Farage so they celebrated and did so without thought.

The aftermath of the Farage debanking scandal emerging also showed us a parade of leftists who had become ludicrous in their reaction to it. We had leftists coming out and standing up and praising banks and putting themselves clearly and obviously on the side of banks that gave the appearance of being on their side. I’m quite astonished at this. Having been on the Left when I was younger I can’t for the life of me recall a time when the financial services industry and especially the banking sector was not seen by the Left generally as either an enemy or a partial or total cause of the world’s problems. Back in the day the Left were denouncing bankers with all the muscular and deranged vehemence of a Jackboot Licker blaming the Rothschild’s for his anal fissure, leftist activists of my youth were certainly not supporting bankers.

The Nigel Farage debanking scandal has as well as exposing the practise to the general public has also exposed what passes for the modern Left and showed us who they are. To support the exclusion from financial life of one of the Left’s opponents doesn’t show them, the Left, to have any principles or really and truly be committed to improving the lot of life’s underdogs or relieving unjust oppression, despite what the Establishement Left might claim. It shows them to be shouty, selfish tribalists whose concerns are a world away from the concerns of the man on the Clapham Omnibus and an astronomical unit away from the concerns of those outside of the South East or outside of the Metro-left set.

On this occasion the idiot middle class left, which is the cohort that most hate Mr Farage with a passion, have really shot themselves in the foot. Not only have their responses to the Farage scandal shown them to be without principles and to be unconcerned about the dangers to civil society that debanking represents, but also how much the modern Establishment Left hates ordinary Britons. The sneering of the left in their celebrations of Farage’s debanking is also a sneer at every single ordinary Briton who dissents from leftist narratives. It is a snobbish sneer at anyone who is concerned about immigration levels, who doesn’t want to freeze and starve because of Net Zero, who doesn’t want to see kids fall into the hands of the Gender Mengeles or who still believe in MLK Jr’s dream of a colourblind societal meritocracy as opposed to the divisiveness of identity politics.

I see what the Left has become and I’m completely and utterly disgusted. The Left, cheerleading for bankers is both disgraceful and appalling. It’s not quite as bad as supporting a uni-testicled Austrian because Uncle Joe says so, but it shows the same lack of principles. The left have revealed themselves over the Farage scandal and what has been revealed is not in any way to be described as pretty, in fact what has been shown is instead pretty nasty .

  1. Entirely agree F211.
Debanking for political reasons is truly appalling, but then the Banks forgot long ago that it is OUR money – even when that’s a government bailout, not theirs, that keeps them afloat.
As for principles on the left; I agree that there was a time when when the left had principles, but I suspect that ended when they were forced to either (a) admit that communism simply does not work in the real world (the main problem being that before the “new man” evolves the worst examples of the “old man” inevitably come to rule) or (b) ignore the real world evidence to maintain their delusion that communism is the way to utopia. Once a “narrative” / delusion / ideology gets wrecked by reality then you must abandon rational thought and so principles go as well to maintain your delusion.

I do wonder about the Overton window effect here though. As we’ve often seen on the left the only way to stay out of the hands (or tweets etc.) of the troons (as the latest example) , the ecoloons (ongoing – and yes, I’m looking at you Guterres “world boiling” – my a*rse) or DIE (diversity, inclusion and equity) etc. exponent is to be even more of a extremist / nutjob / idiot than the last speaker. Thus the Overton window of “what is acceptable speech” shifts all the time, so those who think of themselves as being “progressives” – i.e. regressives (not really sure the old left-right really works any more in much of this, but its a useful “shorthand” I suppose) get ever more extreme.
After all the way to stop the mob killing you is to lead it, running in front screaming louder than anyone else.

Maybe the tide is turning on the troons, I’m not sure yet. Certainly there have been set-backs and even reversals for them recently, but the battle is very far from won given what is still happening in schools and their hidden curriculum (done so for spurious reasons of “commercial confidentiality”).
