Lots of people change or abandon or take up a religious belief. In a religiously free society there is no penalty any more for abandoning the Church of England and choosing an independent church or choosing any other faith from Jainism to Judaism or from Paganism to Protestantism and vice versa. That’s all well and good and something that is not unusual in a religiously free society. However there is one class of individuals about whom we should think more critically and carefully about and see them as potential future social and law enforcement problems and that is those who convert to Islam.

It is in the nature of those who choose a religion for them to be quite staunch about it. I’ve met ex-Christian Pagans for example who are vehement about rejecting the idea of the Trinitarian Christian view of the deity and who are also very knowledgable and voluble about the takeover of what were Pagan festivals such as Christmas and giving them a Christian spin. I’ve lost count of how many neo-Pagan friends and associates have spoken about how the festival of Yule not only chronologically preceded Christmas in the West but also contains many Pagan elements that have been Christianised.

This isn’t really much of a social issue apart from people becoming bored with the newly converted’s enthusiasm. But when the person in question converts to Islam then there’s the strong possibility that because Islam is generally conducive to violence, then that convert will take on board these messages of violence and put them into real world practise. This is not an unknown phenomenon and many converts to Islam have in the past been apprehended by the authorities for engaging in jihad related activities.

A big problem that Western society faces is that many converts to Islam are taking a path that leads all too swiftly from conversion to Islam to planning acts of terrorism. Stories like this one from Sky News.

A Brighton man has been jailed for at least 16 years after admitting he was plotting a shooting at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park.

Edward Little, 22, pleaded guilty to preparing an act of terrorism in May at the Old Bailey in central London via video link from Belmarsh prison.

It was alleged he had planned to buy a gun and use it to kill a Christian preacher and her camera crew at the central London venue, as well as soldiers and police.

He had looked up different weapons and their capabilities and arranged to buy one for £5,000. He was on his way into London in a taxi with thousands of pounds in cash when he was stopped and arrested on 23 September, last year.

Today he was handed a life sentence in his absence, with a minimum term of 16 years behind bars, after he refused to attend court to hear his punishment.

Little had also refused to answer questions in his police interviews, but became violent when shown a YouTube image of the preacher he had been targeting.

The gossip surrounding this case is that the Christian preacher in question is Hatun Tash whom the Islamist scum who have taken over Speaker’s Corner hate with a passion. It would not surprise me if that were the case. Ms Tash has been a target for violence before from the Islamists of Speaker’s Corner and many of these Islamists are extremely unhinged.

This latest case of someone going from conversion to Islam to Jihad in a short amount of time does represent a problem for our society. That problem is people who are predisposed mentally to violence choosing a violent religion and then using that religion to express their inherent violent tendencies.

Because of this I believe that society, both in terms of the security apparatus and the general public, should keep a much closer eye on those who choose Islam as a life path. That’s not to say that we should harass or harm those who choose Islam, but we should certainly be wary of them and watch them for any red Islamic related flags.

As for this particular Islamic convert I very much doubt that 16 years minimum gaol time will reform him. It’s much more likely that being locked up with other Islamic extremists will make him worse. Let us hope that good sense prevails and that Edward Little spends the rest of his miserable life in prison.
