Douglas Murray is on fine form with his examination of the aftermath of the Bondi Beach Atrocity. In his piece he lays into the Australian government for pandering to some quite worryingly extreme forms of Islam and its adherence.
In a piece for the City Journal Mr Murray talks about how the coming days will result in a lot of questions being asked about this incident. These questions will likely as Mr Murray said range from why these Islamic savages were allowed into Australia in the first place and why they were not stopped, via an examination of the police’s response to the massacre and about why a Jewish event in a public place, at a time when there is a massive rise in Far Left and Islamic Jew-hatred was not better protected by the Australian security agencies.
Mr Murray has written a damned fine article about the Bondi Atrocity but what stood out for me in his article was this passage where Mr Murray said:
“But the main question is why the Australian authorities did not take the concerns of Jewish Australians seriously, and why indeed they spent the last two years pandering to the ever-growing contingent of Muslim immigrants and others who have clearly been on the path to radicalization. It will not be enough for them to say that they did not know.
Far from tamping down the problem, the Anthony Albanese government has been viciously maligning Israel since October 7, 2023. It has expressly tried to stop people from correcting those denigrations. It has allowed mass incitement every week on Australian streets and tried to bar those who oppose such incitement.”

He’s correct there. The Australian government has pandered to the followers of Islam and worse has pandered to some of the most ugly, hate-filled and culturally incompatible aspects of this ideology. The Australian government has allowed Moslems and Far Leftists to take to the streets and call for the gassing of Jews, to call for the destruction of Israel and who have from what I can see credibly and immediately incited violence. We can see that the incitement that these Islamic and Far Left Jew-haters is credible by the sharp rise on attacks in Australia on Australian Jews. Even I as a free speech fundamentalist understand that credible and immediate incitement to violence comes outside any reasonable concept of freedom of speech. What is astonishing is that a country with so little protections for free speech when compared to the United States would fail to act against genuine incitement of the sort that even the US courts have ruled is not protected free speech.
I agree with Mr Murray that there’s going to be a need for a whole lot of questions to be answered by the Australian government about their handling of the two murderous Islamic savages who carried out the atrocity and also how they’ve handled incitement to violence from the devil’s brew of radical Islam and the Far Left combined. There should be no agency an no individual who should not be asked awkward questions about how they’ve acted in the past whether that be politicians, academia, the media and the security forces. These agencies and the individuals who man them should not be allowed to wriggle out of accounting for themselves.
