There are persistent but unconfirmed reports and I need to stress that they are unconfirmed at this stage, that a gang of 4 – 5 migrants have sexually attacked a 17 year old girl in the town. The gist of the story and the allegation is that the girl was grabbed by the migrants and attacked but a local man heard the attack going on and waded in to protect the girl. From reading around the story the police attended but the man who intervened to protect the girl was told by police not to say anything about it to anyone.
Now of course I can understand that there are legitimate reasons why a police officer would say that to a witness to a crime or someone who had intervened to stop it. That main reason would be to protect the evidence chain from contamination by hearsay or to protect a jury from undue influence by news reports in the event that this incident turned into a court case. However the police might have illegitimate reasons for silence members of the public and that could be to protect ‘community cohesion’ and public order at a time when migrant crime is a hot button topic for Britons.
Users of social media are alleging that the attack took place on Friday at Arbroath railway station. However there’s been no communication to the public about this alleged incident from what I can ascertain from Police Scotland. Police Scotland are saying nothing but it would behove them to do so as the anger seems to be rising about this allegation. The longer that Police Scotland say nothing the greater will be the number of people who believe that Police Scotland have something to hide therefore Police Scotland need to speak up about this alleged incident and speak up very very soon. This might be a false claim but then again it might be not and it’s imperative that this matter is clarified as soon as possible.
