Jewish New Year charity appeal.

I try, but don’t always succeed, in putting up a charity appeal either at Jewish New Year or at Yom Kippur after it’s time of year when Jews believe is an especially auspicious time that charity should be given. However this year I’ve managed it and I’ve got one British veteran cause and one Jewish cause to promote this year.

The veteran cause I’d like to promote this year is Combat Stress. They are there for those who’ve served in the military and who have because of their service incurred wounds that are of the mind and not the body. Although I have not served in the British military I have known enough men and women who have served and who are haunted about some of the things they’ve seen and the experiences that they’ve had.

Combat Stress provides mental health services for veterans and done in such a way and by people who understand the military environment and the peculiar stresses put on our service personnel.

So if you want to help a British combat veteran with stuff like PTSD then please visit the link below and give.

The Jewish cause that I’d like to highlight is an unusual one. It’s not security for UK synagogues or an Israeli charity or a charity for the UK Jewish community but one that helps Ethiopian Jews climb out of poverty and in some cases prepare them for Aliyah to Israel.

The Jews of Ethiopia are not in a good place. Many of them live in poverty in a country that has over the last century had more than its fair share of troubles.

Meketa UK supports the Ethiopian Jews in the Gondar region of Ethiopia with resources for school children, vocational training and micro loans that can be taken out in order to start small businesses. They also support traditional craft businesses that produce Judaica such as Talisim and Kippot. Meketa is giving the Jews of Ethiopia a hand up rather than a hand out.

  1. And for me, it was a sizeable chunk to Hatzola UK for the sterling work they do without fear or favour. And also my customary New Year curse on the Jew haters and supposed “Jews” in name only such as Miliband and David Paulsen aka Zack Polanski who do so much to put a target on our backs while sucking the dicks of those who’d kill us and them without a moment’s hesitation.
Happy New Year, except for those who preach death and support the preachers of death
    Am Israel Chai.

    • Shana Tova to you and yours. I have like you nothing but contempt for the ‘asaJews’ like Miliand and the Tit Whisperer. I had a graphic prepared for the Miliband story but I worried whether it crossed the line into ‘grossly offensive’ territory but I’m so pissed off with the ‘AsaJews’ that I might put it up sometime.

I was pleasantly surprised by the RH service at my closest shul which I attended. The Lefties who have sometimes marred it seem to have been put back in their box at least for a while. No ‘lets be nice to the Jewish Voice for Labour / Na’amod’ types, no ‘refugees welcome’ bleaters drawing false equivalences between the Kindertransport and the Channel Invaders, just a decent well run service with spectacular Shofar playing and a really good Kiddish.

  2. That’s great. No Asajews around iny manor either. But a shrinking congregation here in Kenton. Excellent sermon and as always, no attacks on others, just the message for a sweet and peaceful new year. I know for a fact that no such peaceful messages are preached in various locations of peace, from what I’ve experienced, probably the opposite, but nothing will be done for fear of being called “phobic” the universal shutdown magic word that our cowards in office have normalized.
L’Shana Tova to you and yours. May G-d protect us from the Asajews who are often worse than our other detractors and enemies.

    • Having had so many services at so many synagogues marred by the Left and being told ‘don’t mention Islamic Jew hatred’ by one shul management committee member and ‘we don’t do politics here’ immediately after the 7/10 Pogrom when I sent them an article for the shul magazine about how now is the time for political realism, it was refreshing on RH not to have any of that this time.

What you may find interesting is that in the non-Orthodox movements there is a backing off from association with dodgy groups like Citizens UK and from screaming about ‘refugees’. Reality may have bitten a few influential people very hard on the arse and this may be why these issues are being sidelined.
