There are a whole host of reasons why it’s not in either your own personal or the nation’s interests to vote for the Liberal Democrats. The main reason I cannot vote for the Lib Dems is that they are neither recognisable as classical liberals with very little support for personal freedoms nor do they support democracy when democracy goes against them and their views. But there’s many other reasons and these include the party’s slavish admiration for the European Union, their support for open borders and the tendency of some in the party to support the dumping on Channel Invaders on places that really don’t want them and their willingness to support left wing policies that bring about damage to the country.

They are hostile to the concept of freedom of speech and freedom of the Press and have shown they are quite willing to line up with the censors to stop Britons talking about the major issues that affect them. Then there’s the Lib Dem’s disastrous record in both national and local government when they were in office with the Tories earlier this century when they failed to back an expansion of nuclear power, supported damaging Net Zero policies and backed a form of proportional representation that if it had been passed would have seen Parliament filled with a rag tag of Left wing extremists. They also backed student tuition fees despite promising not to do so before then entered government in coalition with the Tories. Their record in local government is also patchy with some Lib Dem councils such as in Bath creating massive travel problems because of their obsession with forcing people out of their cars and hiking parking fees which has hit businesses in the city hard.

There is also the distasteful and dishonest Lib Dem’s ‘Janus-faced’ public persona where they campaign towards the Left when campaigning in urban areas but to the centre right when campaigning in more rural or semi-rural areas. This tactic served them well when media was centralised and before the internet as they could get away with being all things to all people but not today. We can all now see because of social media the Lib Dems shifty tactic of saying one thing to one group and quite another to a different group. We can see it and it stinks.

Now there’s another reason to not vote Lib Dem in addition to the ones that I’ve outlined above. According to press reports the Lib Dems have voted at their conference to throw women’s rights under the bus.

The Daily Mail said:

“The Liberal Democrats are embroiled in a fresh trans rights row today after members voted to rip up rules protecting women-only spaces, with the backing of leader Sir Ed Davey.

The party conference today passed a motion brought forward by activists demanding ‘discriminatory and unworkable’ gender guidance unveiled by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is scrapped.

The code, which came into force last month, set out that single-sex toilets, changing rooms, hospital wards and refuges must be used based on a person’s birth sex, not the gender with which they identify, following the landmark 2025 Supreme Court ruling.

But Lib Dem members overwhelmingly backed replacing it with a new code ‘that is inclusive, workable and ensures everybody can safely access public facilities and providers are protected from legal risk’.

They also want MPs to be given a veto over who leads the EHCR, allowing them to block the appointment of trans sceptics.

Sir Ed said today he would vote in favour of the move, despite women’s rights activists in the party criticising it as ‘a Trojan horse for removing women’s rights to single-sex spaces’. 

Dr Zoe Hollowood, who chairs the campaign group Liberal Voice for Women, told the conference: ‘It is not about restoring trans rights for they have lost none.

‘It is about ripping out rights from women and destroying the clarity of the Supreme Court ruling.’ “

Dr Hollowood is absolutely correct here. It’s ripping out and ripping up hard won rights that women have achieved in favour of the demands of the ‘cocks in frocks’ contingent. The decision of the Lib Dem conference to vote in favour of manipulating the EHRC so that those who stand up for women’s rights can be prevented from being appointed is absolutely chilling. This is not the action of any party that calls itself ‘liberal’ should be doing.

It took British women centuries to win equal rights and to win rights to fair sex segregated sport, safe single sex toilets, the right of women, Lesbian as well as straight, to self organise, to get dignified same sex hospital treatment and everything else. The Lib Dems however are going to throw all that hard won set of rights away just to appease a Trans lobby that many normal people have started to question and question for damned good reasons. The Lib Dems clearly do not care one bit about women’s safety and dignity and therefore is not a party that anyone who cares about women’s rights should consider voting for.

As I outlined earlier there are a multitude of reasons to not vote for the Liberal Democrats and the recent Liberal Democrat conference has given us another huge reason not to vote for them in the future.
