Public money used for a nakedly political purpose.

Did Angela Rayner know or suspect that Southport reconstruction money was going to be used for far left propaganda? She needs to come clean about this or the speculation will increase.

A fair while back, in January 2026 in a Spectator article, Dominic Cummings the former aide to Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Ten Downing Street spoke of the lengths that the Establishment will go to in order to stop the rise of the Reform Party. He said that the Establishment will use all manner of dirty tricks, such as releasing financial and medical records to friendly journalists and activists in order to destroy Reform.

In a way Mr Cummings has been proven to be correct. We have seen attacks on Reform over its financing and lurid stories placed in the press to convince the BBC viewing morons (of which there are far too many) that Nigel Farage is just one step away from acquiring a toothbrush moustache.

However now there are allegations that actual government departments were spending public money that was allocated by Central Government for reconstruction after the disturbances following the Southport Atrocity on far left groups that are campaigning against Reform and the Tories.

This is an appalling story which has appeared in the Daily Telegraph, on GB News and which has been commented upon by the former Breitbart staffer Raheem Kassam.

GB News said:

“Angela Rayner’s £15 million community recovery fund financed “anti-Right-wing propaganda” via training materials designed to counter support for Reform UK and the Conservatives, according to fresh documents.

The fund was announced in 2024 by the then deputy prime minister to help communities recover from disorder following the Southport massacre. She said it would ensure communities had the resources they needed to rebuild.

However, as revealed by The Telegraph, funding distributed through the scheme supported the Ella Baker School of Organising, which developed a training programme entitled “Defeating Narratives of Division”.

Birmingham City Council provided £13,450 towards a pilot programme, while Blackpool Council contributed £9,000 for a local version – with training also delivered in Sheffield, Walsall, Solihull and Sefton, which includes Southport.

According to the documents, the programme included guidance on countering anti-immigration arguments, opposing protests and preventing working-class communities from moving towards right-wing politics.

An online booking form for a training session warned of an “impending disaster of a Reform UK government”.

Other materials described Nigel Farage as an “authoritarian populist” and encouraged activists to challenge narratives linking migration to pressure on public services and housing.

The training also advised participants to influence community leaders and organise campaigns around local issues to build support for a “more inclusive” political narrative. “

Raheem Kassam added on his X account:

“Labour’s Angela Rayner funnelled taxpayer cash to a far Left-wing propaganda group in order to prevent a Reform or Tory government.

Parts of a £15 MILLION “community cohesion” grant ended up in the pockets of former Hope Not Hate activists disguised as a new group called the Ella Baker School of Organising. The group — named after the radical, communist-sympathiser US activist — received at least £25k for training for government workers that was advertised as “to avert the impending disaster of a Reform UK government.” The manifesto for this training warns that Reform UK won four million votes at the last election, and states that “Farage is a classic authoritarian populist” who is among political figures “undermining democracy”.

Publicly funded lecture material says: “This is a party that is hostile to multiculturalism, hostile to LGBTQ+ rights, opposes ‘woke’ in the classroom, wants out of the European Convention of Human Rights, and will rip up our already limited climate change commitments.” One lecture in the training material warns that “our people (the working classes) are voting Reform UK in the belief that migrants are the problem”, and adds: “Toxic forces are asserting a narrative that prioritises the interests of straight, white, men.”

One of the images used in the taxpayer-funded training for civil servants called Farage, Trump, Le Pen, Modi, Tommy Robinson, Geert Wilders, and even centrist Boris Johnson “the symptoms of the same disease.””

The revelation of these allegations that public money earmarked for reconstruction has been funnelled into far left and anti-British entities and activities has obviously caught out the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as they hastily issued a statement saying that “Councils are not permitted to use taxpayers’ money to fund partisan issues or party-political activity.”

This statement looks to me as if the Ministry is trying to deflect any blame for this waste of money on politicised activity onto councils rather than the Ministry itself. Whilst it’s likely that local councils should share some of the blame for this decision to waste money in a overtly political way I do wonder whether the Ministry itself should have foreseen this possibility and made sure that the money was ring fenced for reconstruction and not be allowed to be spent on political activity. It should have been obvious to the Ministry that some councils would use this money for political ends or attempt to which begs the question: Why didn’t the Ministry take steps to prevent this in the first place? Did Angela Rayner know that there was a possibility that this cash would be misused for far left political ends and if so why didn’t she take steps to prevent this? That they did not will create speculation that this outcome, the use of public money for far left political purposes, is what Ministers and Civil Servants actually wanted?
