I was brought up in a port town that was to a significant extent mixed in both race and religion. I used to see the whole world going by the window of the cafe that my grandparent’s ran, everyone from North Korean sailors in Mao suits to what used to be called Lascars, the African and Indian personnel who once manned the hot, dangerous and dirty engine rooms of ships. It was impressed on me by those around me that I should treat everyone as an individual human being and that I should live according to Martin Luther King Jr’s exhortation to judge people by the content of their character rather than anything else. The ethos I was given taught me to only judge people by what they do and not what they are.
I still try and live that way and try to see the person behind the label that they may possess. I try to do that even when that person follows ideologies that I may be vehemently in disagreement with. For example I dislike the Cult of Trans but I would treat a transperson as an individual and without hatred unless they gave me good reason to change my view. The same applies to Islam, I dislike the ideology, believe it has deleterious effects on its followers and the societies that it creates, but I do not and cannot bring myself to dislike individual Muslims unless they give me good reason to do so.
Unfortunately there are some Muslims who were not brought up with the sort of ethos that I was and freely and openly hate Jews. What’s worse is that open and vehement hatred of Jews is not just expressed but is also not tackled in the same way by the Establishment and its organs as any other hatred based on race and religion might be dealt with.
There’s an absolute horror story of Islamic Jew hatred coupled with acquiescence to that Jew hatred by a school that was put out by Mor Edge Insight on X. It’s a story of Islamic Jew hatred coupled with the school’s reluctance to either tackle the Islamic bigot or comfort or help the Jewish child who is at the heart of this particular Muslim’s bigotry. I’m assuming that this story is British as it’s the sort of thing that happens too often in the United Kingdom but this sort of Jew hatred is happening now across the Western world.
Here’s this terrible story:
There was a situation at my daughter’s school last week which left her in tears. I went in to the school the day after to let them know we were removing her with immediate effect. The head teacher tried to explain but I had no interest in her excuses or reasons.
The school had a play and an open evening for next year’s new pupils, and my daughter’s class were asked to take the potential new pupils and their parents for a tour of the school and classes.
My daughter is the most softly spoken, polite and friendly child you’d probably ever meet. She’s one of just 40 Jewish pupils at the school out of over a thousand children. My wife wanted her to go to a non Jewish school because she felt concerned about the security threats at Jewish schools, and I don’t have much say in the matter as I’m just the dad. Our youngest goes to a Jewish school and the security simply isn’t anywhere good enough. This would be both their last year at school in this country because we’d already made the decision to leave the country before their next school year.
My oldest wears a tiny discreet Star of David pendant. It’s so inoffensive to anybody but allows her to express her Jewish faith in a small way.
When it was her turn in line to greet the family she would show around, the family was a Muslim family. My daughter has no personal issue with anybody and is friendly with two Muslim girls in her class who aren’t bothered by her being Jewish. But this family clearly were. In front of everyone, the father refused to be shown around by “a Jew”. He apparently, according to several parents and a teacher, raised his voice at her, and demanded that another child show them around. Instead of the head teacher condemning his behavior and telling him to leave, she asked my daughter to step aside and asked another pupil to show them around. Nobody except other parents, non Jewish parents, came to my daughter to ask if she was even ok. She was in a flood of tears, frightened and confused.
My wife got a phone call from another parent and insisted she would go fetch our daughter because she already knew what I would do had I gone there myself. But this is what we live in now. This is the new normal.
For reasons of what will come next, I won’t name the school. But this is going to escalate, a lot.
I’m gobsmacked by this. I’m gobsmacked not just by the open and naked Jew hatred of this particular Muslim but by the actions or rather non-actions of the school and its senior management team. If it was a case of a non-Muslim objecting to being shown around by a Muslim child then you can bet your life that the head teacher would have stepped in and condemned the act of bigotry.
I have little doubt that if this particular Muslim had encountered what he perceived as ‘Islamophobia’ then he would be jumping up and down and screaming about it. However he felt free to discriminate without good reason against a Jewish child who is only doing him a favour by showing him around the school.
This is another of those cases where we can see that accusations of entities being two tier in their actions do not just apply to Britain’s police forces. Two tier attitudes are, as we can see in the case of this school, present everywhere in Britain.
Nothing happened at the time to the Muslim who expressed his bigotry against Jews. Nothing will in the future will happen to him. He will not get a 3 AM knock on the door from the police for what he said and the attitudes he displayed, he will not be subjected to the criminal justice system, he will not be cancelled on social media, will not get other agents of the state such as social services asking pointed questions about his views, will not suffer any consequences at work and not be subject to any social opprobrium for his bigotry. In two tier Britain this Muslim will be free to express whatever bigotry about Jews he wants whereas the rest of the Britons are constrained, legally and otherwise, from pointing out the Jew hatred that lurks in and is sometimes supported by Muslim communities.
I hope the parents in this case sue the school for whatever reason they can find and eventually expose this particular head teacher and her acceptance of bigotry provided it comes from a Muslim. This head has failed to safeguard this child from the sort of bigotry that they would most likely protect other children from and in my view should never teach or hold a management position in a school again. This school needs to be legally taken to the bloody cleaners not just to punish this particular head teacher and this school, but to send a message to other educational settings that just because a bigot is a Muslim doesn’t mean that this sort of bigot should be given a free pass.
