Oh look! A Muslim accused of ‘lying to Parliament’. Who’d have thought it.

If Baroness Warsi of the Foreign Office tell you it’s raining outside, you’d better go and check for yourself.

Over at Trending Central a big story of alleged Islamic ‘liars’ and significant statistical errors at the heart of the British Government is starting to take shape.

It appears that in a parliamentary question from the odious ‘anti-zionist’ (for that read anti-Semite) ex Lib Dem Baroness Jenny Tonge, Baroness Syeeda Warsi from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in a written answer that 3763 ‘Palestinians’ had been killed by Israeli forces since January 2012.

The death toll figure given by Baroness Warsi, who is Muslim, is 7 times more than the actual figures of ‘Palestinians’ killed by Israeli security forces.

Trending Central said:

Senior Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Baroness Sayeeda Warsi stands accused of misleading the House of Lords and the public following the incorrect citation of the number of Palestinians killed by Israelis since January 2012.

The question, posited by the contentious former Liberal Democrat Baroness Jenny Tonge, asks, “what assessment [the government] have made of the number of non-violent protestors killed and injured by (1) live fire, (2) rubber bullets, and (3) other weapons, in Palestine since 2002.” The answer, given by Baroness Warsi via written question, states:

We have made no assessment of the number of non-violent protestors killed or injured in the Occupied Palestinian Territories since 2002. According to the website of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 3,643 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israelis since 1 January 2012 in incidents directly related to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict in the West Bank and Gaza strip.”

But the figures are astronomically incorrect, as the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OHCA) states clearly in its report from June 2013, that the actual figure of Palestinians killed by Israelis in 2012 was just 262. 13 have been killed so far in 2013. B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories states that 518 Palestinians were killed between January 2009 and June 2013, again dwarfed by the figure cited by Baroness Warsi.”

It seems that the 3000+ figure given by Baroness Warsi has come from a questionable source, an anti Israel political group, but which were apparently not checked either by Warsi or her staff nor the civil servants at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Although the FCO has promised an investigation into how these erroneous figures from some headbanging anti Israel group, managed to find their way into an official ministerial briefing paper, disguised as official United Nations statistics. I’ll not hold my breath waiting for a satisfactory answer from the FCO as it has long been known that the FCO is notoriously pro-Arab and pro-Muslim, so much so that the department has been nicknamed ‘The Camel Corps’.

Warsi should publicly apologise for this error, and those civil servants who may have broken their duty of impartiality should be either sacked, or moved to a less politically sensitive area of work.

One question that this case raises for me is how deeply has the FCO been penetrated by seemingly moderate Muslims who are using their position to promote the ideology of Islam and also to attack Israel, the one functioning democracy in the Middle East? Because of this allegation of false information being presented to Parliament, we all need to ask ‘ just how bent is the FCO?’ If it is ‘bent’ to a significant degree then it makes one wonder if the department’s advice to ministers be considered at all reliable.
