After the heavy religious themed films of the last two weeks which I put up because they were appropriate for the season, I thought that it is now time for some comedy and in this case some classic but rare British comedy.
The film tonight is Party Party made in 1983 and starring Daniel Peacock, Katie Williams, Perry Fenwick, Karl Howman, Caroline Quentin, Nick Berry and many more. The plotline is that Perry Fenwick’s character wants to get together with a girl he fancies and partly as a way of achieving this aim holds a New Years Eve party. Unfortunately, he hasn’t told his parents that he is having a party.
This film tells of all the misadventures and pratfals of those attending the party in the run up to it and at the party itself. The movie has some cracking running gags including the ‘do you smell horses?’ one and a hilarious food fight. There are some very funny characters in this film including the boastful biker, pissed up police, a bride wanting a last fling and a girl who just wants to be loved.
The sound track to this movie is pure classic late 70’s and 80’s tunes and for the car fans there is a very nice Mark 3 Ford Cortina.
This is a film that someone has put up on YouTube but I can’t find a whole unbroken full length copy so I’m afraid that this has to be put up in 7 parts.which have to be clicked on sequentially.
Even if you don’t like British comedy give this one a go. I managed to pick up a DVD a while back and watcing it was like welcoming back an old friend.
So here it is Party Party a great film that I hope you enjoy.
