David Cameron Britain's jelly fish Prime Minister

Despite the House of Commons having a rare fit of common sense recently and refusing the emotionalist appeal by Lord Alf Dubs to allow in thousands of ‘Syrian’ ‘Children’, Prime Minister David Cameron has caved in to the do-gooders and naïve ‘refugees welcome’ fools. This spineless jellyfish of a Prime Minister rolled over under pressure from the CINO’s (conservatives in name only) on his own backbenches, the whining refugees welcome crowd and others who will never ever have to live with the consequences of their decision. According to the website Brietbart, Cameron, when faced with a backbench revolt over the Immigration Bill, collapsed and agreed to see if councils would take an unspecified number of ‘Syrian’ ‘Children’.

Brietbart said:

Reuters) – Prime Minister David Cameron said on Wednesday Britain would take more Syrian child refugees who had made it to Europe, in a move to quell a rebellion in his party before a referendum on EU membership.

Cameron has said children fleeing the conflict in Syria are “relatively safe” once they reach Europe and that the government does not want to encourage more Syrians, including unaccompanied children, to attempt the hazardous journey to the West.

But after several Conservative Party members signalled they would vote against a government immigration bill, Cameron told parliament he would talk to humanitarian groups and local councils about taking more children from the war zone.

We are going to do more for children who are already registered in Europe before the EU-Turkey deal,” he said, referring to a March 20 agreement to send back migrants arriving in Greece from Turkey if they do not apply for asylum there or if their application is rejected.

But the principle we should try to cling to is that we shouldn’t do anything that encourages people to make the perilous journey.”

The Home Office (Interior Ministry) has said up to 3,000 Syrian and other child refugees from camps in the Middle East and North Africa are to be resettled in Britain over the next four years.

Cameron’s spokesman said the change in the prime minister’s stance was “to ensure there is support across the House on this”, after several MPs expressed support for an attempt by a member of the House of Lords to force the government to take in more child refugees.

This fight by the do-gooders and naïve Lefties to have more ‘Syrians’ in the UK has been one characterised by dishonest, emotionalist campaigning. Lord Alf Dubs, although a respectable former MP for Battersea, has played on his experience as one of the Kindertransport children despite there being little to compare with the situation of the children rescued by the Kindertransport. To be frank, to compare the two situations is offensively dishonest. The Kindertransport children were fleeing from certain death under the Nazis whereas the ‘Syrian’ ‘Children’ are not in such a dire place. Many of them are already in safe second or even third countries. If these people are to be helped then can be helped cheaper and more effectively closer to their place of origin, they do not need and for reasons of cultural imcompatibility, they should not, be brought to the United Kingdom. There is another reason why comparisons with the Kindertransport are dishonest and that is the subject of sponsorship. The Kindertransport children had to be sponsored and supported by a British citizen in the UK and there had to be promises that the children would not be a drain on the public purse. These ‘Syrian’ ‘children’ are not being sponsored or supported by altruistic individuals and there is no guarantee that they will not be a drain on Britain’s resources. It’s the taxpayer who will stump up for the support, housing and policing of these ‘Syrian’ ‘children’. Yet again we have the disgusting sight of the likes of David Cameron and others playing ‘Lady Bountiful’ to the world with the nation’s hard earned and hard fought for resources.

Cameron’s cowardly U-turn on this matter is typical of him. It begs the question, if he cannot stand up to his backbenchers and a few virtue signalling social justice warrior types, how can we expect him to stand up to the EU and elsewhere where the interests of the British people are threatened? To be so empathetic that you commit national suicide is not a policy that is sustanable.

  1. What worries me about this whole business is once these kids are safely in the UK how long will it be before their parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins miraculously appear in Calais and demand to be reunited with their long lost child?(with a free house thrown in as well of course)
and our spineless govt will just roll over and allow them in.
