Sometimes you get what you want but it turns out to be a poison gift

The British ‘Islamophobia’ monitors Tell Mama are not only a group that has consistently been dishonest about the level and severity of crimes committed against Muslims and who have leveraged considerable amounts of public money with which to do so, they are also a group that believes that speech about and critical of Islam should be censored. To this end they have partnered with some seriously questionable groups such as the Stop Funding Hate group that bullies advertisers into removing advertising from outlets that criticise Islam or which take the opposite view to the leftist open borders narrative. Tell Mama have also, allegedly by the use of contacts within Twitter management and with the assistance of Tell Mama’s pet politicians, campaigned vigorously for censorship of Islam critical voices on that platform.

To a degree Tell Mama have been successful but it is a success that has rebounded on them badly. This is especially the case where the Britain First organisation is concerned. Now I carry no particular political brief for Britain First, they don’t fit my style of patriotic politics and some of their policies regarding the press I find I cannot in any way support, but I do believe they should be allowed to speak. Tell Mama fought hard and pulled out all the stops they could to get Britain First and their leadership team pulled from Twitter. Unfortunately for Tell Mama the removal of BF and its leaders from Twitter was somewhat expected and provisions had been made to move BF to the free speech social platform Gab.

What should have been a moment of triumph for the mendacious grievance mongering taqiyya artists of the Tell Mama organisation has rapidly turned to ashes. Within just a few weeks of joining the gab.ai platform the accounts of Britain First and their leadership team of Jayda Fransen and Paul Golding had 3,214, 5,211 and 2,881 followers respectively. Britain First and their leaders have also brought with them a considerable number of those who have followed them on other platforms. This is quite an achievement for BF on a relatively new social media platform and in addition one that is being unfairly and continually demonised by the press and the legacy social media platforms.

Far from shutting up Britain First or Ms Fransen and Mr Golding, what Tell Mama have achieved is to give them another audience and even more publicity. People who were not aware of Britain First or those involved with this group are, because of the furore about the banning of BF from Twitter, much more aware of this groups existence. This has increased the number of followers and readers that BF may well have had. In addition, the move to Gab, where free speech is the bedrock of the platform appears to have emboldened BF and its activists to a considerable degree. No longer do they have to look over their shoulders and wonder if the Twitter management will censor their output and they have therefore appeared to become much more bold with the styling and content of their output. When looking at the recent output of text, videos and memes put out by BF it looks to me at least as if it is much more ‘in your face’ than it ever was when BF was on Twitter.

The banning of BF from Twitter has been a major own goal for Tell Mama and other groups who wish to force Islam critical voices off of social media. This banning and the publicity surrounding it has had a massive ‘Streisand Effect’ on Britain First and indeed the gab platform itself. Not only have BF now got access to a platform that will not censor them, even if the Communities Minister Sajid Javid tells them to, they have also brought a considerable number of their supporters (BF has had up to 2 million ‘likes’ on Facebook) to the Gab platform with them. In addition to this the banning of BF from Twitter has helped Gab to grow in user numbers and this trend looks to me likely to grow as more Islam critical voices and mainstream conservatives start to be banned by Twitter management for highly dubious ‘hate speech’ reasons.

Tell Mama may have thought that they had achieved a victory by helping to get BF banned from Twitter and that is certainly the impression I got from reading some of their social media output. But, all they’ve really achieved is to hand their opponents,Britain First, a new weapon with better ammunition in the form of a free speech platform and more troops in the form of supporters with which to use it. Even though I’m not a supporter of Britain First I must admit I’m completely delighted to see how Tell Mama have seriously screwed up here by handing Britain First so much free publicity. Tell Mama got what they wanted but it is turning out to be a very poisonous gift for them.

  1. There was a time when lefties hated religion. The Socialist Party of Great Britain (old and small party) even has a rule that you can’t join if you are religious. They used to love to hate Christians, maybe they still do. They have drifted dreadfully close to antisemitism, but the fascinating thing is to ally with Hitler’s old friends, the Islamic world.

I was talking to an Arab Muslim two weeks ago who asked me what people in England thought of Hitler. I explained that Hitler is the image of absolute evil in western society. He was shocked that people would think ill of Hitler, and I was shocked that he was shocked.

Anne Marie Waters says we shouldn’t be so surprised in that the secular and theological ideologies both hate the West, want total control by government and the two sides also share the assumption that come the revolution they will be in charge and the other side will get the bullet. (If it ever came to that, Islam would win as the current extremists are far more skilled at slaughter than the gender fluid left wing)

Postmodernist-Marxism is one reason why we have allowed a rising Islamic movement in the West, both are threats to civil society, but I, personally, see the former the worse of the two, but For Britain (the party) sees the latter as the main issue.

    What is your view?

Thank you for your very interesting comment and welcome to Fahrenheit211. My view is that although Islam is a clear and present danger to the citizens and cultures in free nations such as the UK, it would be less of a problem were it not for the Left and expecially the post modern, post 1968 types of Left wingers. The old style of leftism, the one rooted in the working classes and the type of leftism that I followed for many years myself, was implacably opposed to all religion and all superstition. The difference between that Left and the post 1968 post modern Left is that today’s left says that all religions are evil except one, Islam.

I think like you that the Left is making a huge mistke in aligning itself with Islam. They are making some of the same mistakes as were made by teh Iranian Left back in the 1970’s. They thought that they could use the Mullahs to bring about the removal of the Shah and the creation of a socialist state. What happened in reality is the Muslims grabbed the guns and slaughtered the socialists. This is what Muslim and Islamic interests will do to the naive and destructive socialists in Western nations which align themselves with Islam and kid themselves that this monster can be controlled and will not turn on the Leftists after the hoped for revolution.
