In the Western world, it has been a long-standing right to be able to change your religion or even abandon religion altogether. Religion and spirituality, even in nations such as Britain which has an Established church, has been seen as something highly personal and unique to each individual and there has grown a respect for the idea that it is a person’s inalienable right to believe in whatever deity or deities they choose.

Unfortunately Islam does not think the same way. There is little respect for those of other beliefs and the plight of those who leave Islam either for atheism or for some other faith is awful. Those who choose to leave Islam are often subjected to violence or threats of violence from family members who are still living within Islam.

One case from Australia provides ample evidence that Islam is not only not a ‘religion of peace’, but that this sickness posing as a religion even encourages sons to murder their mothers if their mothers decide to leave Islam. This case also contains details in it that illustrate how women in Islamic families are sometimes treated worse than how a civilised person would treat an animal.

The Australian Channel Nine News website (H/T ROP) is currently carrying the awful and heart-rending story of Nadia (last name withheld) who converted to Islam as a young woman when she fell in love with a Muslim man. After she married she increasingly found her life to be one of drudgery and oppression. Nadia also claimed that sometimes she was even fed on the scraps that were left over when her husband and sons had finished eating, such was her lowly position on the Islamic social hierarchy.

Channel Nine said:

A Melbourne woman who told how she felt like an “animal” and a “slave” while practising Islam says she hopes she’ll inspire other female Muslims to “free themselves” from the religion. 

Nadia (last name with held) and her eldest daughter Allawea are now in hiding, after their family turned against them when the pair denounced Islam. 

“It is in an honour for them to kill somebody whose turned away from Islam, and their own mother has turned away from Islam so I mean nothing to them,” the 40-year-old told A Current Affair. 

…..Nadia and her teenage daughter are now living in a safe house, provided by a domestic violence charity. 

The 40-year-old, originally from Bendigo, met her ex-husband when she was in her late teens. She fell head over heels and converted to Islam but “struggled to do daily prayers, daily washing” and “read the Koran”. 

“I watched my children giving me their seconds off their plate … and that was okay because I was western and white, and not Muslim,” she said.

Of course we should criticise this woman for the utter and complete stupidity of converting to Islam, but that should not deflect from the fact that this woman, like millions of others in Islamic societies, are treated little better than beasts. We should also not let this woman’s personal stupidity blind us to the fact that her own family, including her own sons, were quite prepared, because of the instructions given by Islam regarding apostates, to murder her. Islam is unadulterated savagery and despite my criticisms of her original conversion to Islam, I commend her bravery not only in getting out of this savage and uncompromising ideology, but also for telling the world about it.

Those who foolishly claim that Islam is no different from other religious or spiritual paths need to read this case and the accounts of similar cases where those who question Islam or leave it are killed or put under threat of death. As far as I am concerned the only thing I share with Islam is an avoidance of bacon, everything else in this appalling ideology runs counter to everything that I and many other reasonable people would accept or classify as ‘good’.

Violence and the threat of violence is what keeps the Islamic Ummah together, people stay in Islam not through love of their deity, but through abject fear of what might happen to them and their loved ones if they choose to leave Islam. This is not the sign of a healthy religion or healthy ideology, it is the signifier of a death cult.
