We shall remember them

Today I, along with my wife and child, we will put on our ‘Saturday Best clothes’ and will brave the rain and head off into our local town for Rememberance Sunday. We will take our places among many others young and old to pay our respects to those who have served the British armed forces over many years. We will remember those who served with distinction and protected this country and in particular we will remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Britain. We will remember those who came back from various conflicts wounded in body, mind and soul and pray for their healing and their help.

We will take our place by our local war memorial, one of hundreds of others dotted up and down the country that were erected to mark the end of the carnage that was World War One and to honour those who fell in that conflict. We will also be standing alongside many others, some who have served in our armed forces, others who have lost family members in the various conflicts that HM Forces have been engaged in and others who have no connection to the military, but who feel gratitude to those who have served. We will stand in silence and say:

We Shall Remember Them
