The Great Brexit Betrayal March – Sunday 9th December

I’m going to do my damned best to be at the Great Brexit Betrayal March that is going to be held in London on the 9th December, the day before the House of Commons votes on PM Theresa May’s much criticised Brexit agreement. The main reason that I will be attending is that like many Leavers, although I expected there to be some degree of short term compromise with the EU during the process of our exit from the bloc, Mrs May’s proposals go far beyond any necessary and time limited compromises. Her proposals will continue to tie us to EU policies and institutions ostensibly for the short term but which could be for longer.

There is a fear among many Leavers that EU sympathisers in the Civil Service and in the Parliamentary political parties, may conspire to to keep Britain to all intents and purposes in the EU. It is difficult to shake the feeling that Theresa May could have got a better deal than she has done and we will be left with much less control over our trade, our borders and other matters than the clean break that many of us voted for in June 2016.

I am marching because we are plainly not getting the Brexit that we voted for. It was quite clear that the majority of people chose for Britain to leave the European Union. British subjects did this with the full knowledge of what they were doing and in many cases they understood that exiting the EU could cause a short term hit on Britain’s GDP and would involve leaving all EU institutions. We and other voters should have expected that our vote would be honoured by the political classes and that we would have a managed withdrawal from the EU and the most positive trading relationship with the bloc post Brexit. However this is not what we seem to be getting, but it is certainly not the Brexit that myself and many others voted for. It may involve us giving too many concessions and not getting much back in return.

This march, which although is being publicised by Tommy Robinson, isn’t a ‘Tommy Robinson march’, it’s organised by UKIP and others and will be addressed by Lord Pearson and others who are concerned about the way that the Brexit process is being mismanaged. The demonstration arrangements are I understand from Mark Braithwaite who is heavily publicising this, to meet up by the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane at 11:45am with the march moving off towards Whitehall at 12:30pm.

This march will of course be counter-protested by the usual motley collection of Socialist Workers Party types and others on the Left. A quick search of the internet has shown me a whole host of Left wing groups and individuals, from both the hard and the more soft Left, foaming over this demonstration. They are foaming over the subject, foaming over the involvement of Tommy Robinson and UKIP and screaming ‘racist’ and ‘fascist’ here there and everywhere. This is to be expected. I have also seen that there are reports out there that David Lammy along with the Muslim Council of Britain are also mobilising their supporters to oppose this march.

If the report is correct then we now have the unedifying sight of not just the Britain hating Left standing up against the result of Briton’s choices, but also a major Muslim organisation doing the same. There will be those who will look at this development and feel complete disgust that Muslim leaders who when given the choice whether to support continued enslavement by the EU or freedom for Britain, the MCB chose the EU. The presence of the MCB on the list of supporters of this counter protest is significant, this is a huge and well funded operation, a world away from one of the other supporting organisations, The Jewish Socialist Group, who could probably fit their entire active membership in a couple of phone boxes. The question ‘which side are you on boys,’ seems to have been well and truly answered here, at least with regards to the MCB. I must admit that a large mob of Muslims calling for Britain to be shackled to the EU is not a good look and far from reducing public dislike of Islam will probably increase it. I would of course counsel that those attending the Brexit Betrayal march concentrate on the job in hand and do not get into any confrontations with these fools, mountebanks and quislings, as it is confrontation that these groups really want. Just let them scream and go away, remember they are not the majority, they are the losers.

So why not come to London on the 9th December and make your voice heard and call for the Brexit we voted for and not the disaster of the quasi-Brexit that May is leading the country towards. Let’s get our marching shoes on and tell both the government and the disgraceful Left and Islamic Europhiles that we need the Brexit we voted for, nothing more and nothing less.

I’m not going. It will be a small-scale event with the extreme left as numerous as “tommy robinson’s” far right.

Should a decent organisation start a pro-Brexit march, I will go on it, more than willingly.

I am 72 years of age and I will be at the march along with my other half [69 years] just two of the 17.4 million betrayed by the likes of Theresa May and the rest of the snivelling remainers .
