A party of enthusiastic traitors

Imagine if you will, that it is the year 1910 in the United Kingdom and unlike as we know occurred from the historical record, the Prime Minister is faced with an opposition party that is rabidly pro-German. This alternative opposition party wants to hand Britain and the Empire over to the Germans, replace the Royal Family with the Kaiser, put the Imperial German government in charge of the Royal Navy and generally dissolve Britain as a nation and become a provincial satrap part of the German Empire. This opposition party would also want to sell Britain to Germany for a very small price for those calling for this policy but which would cause enormous problems and cost for ordinary Britons, who would  find themselves ruled by haughty princes in Berlin. This fantasy opposition party would blithely put aside all the hundreds of years of British history and the struggle for Britain to be an independent nation. It’s a difficult thing to comprehend that a party which once governed Britain would want to sell this nation so cheaply and we must be thankful that this scenario never happened. If it had we would all, and not just the House of Saxes-Coburg-Gota who are the current ruling monarchical house, be German speaking slaves, with no democracy, no means of affecting change and no means of holding a view that was counter to that held by Berlin.

This is, you might consider, to be a horrible and fantastical scenario. It’s one that will make many people shudder at the thought of such an alternative history. Whilst we must be thankful that Britain did not join the Triple Alliance of Germany, Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire and this scenario never came about, we should also be aware that there is a party, active in British politics today, who want to do something similar to giving Britain to the Germans in 1910.

That party is the increasingly illiberal and anti democratic Liberal Democrat Party who gave a rousing cheer to Belgian MEP and ardent Euro-federalist, Guy Verhofstadt when he spoke at the Liberal Democrat party conference that is being held in Bournemouth. They cheered Verhofstadt when he said that the future will not be one of nation states, but of blocs and empires. When I first saw this story on Brietbart I thought it must be spin, surely no British political party that claims to be democratic would invite a representative of a competing foreign power and cheer the idea of Britain becoming little more than an outpost of an EU empire? However, watching some of last night’s Thinkery livestream with Sargon of Akkad, showed me that it was not a case of a partisan outfit like Breitbart putting a spin on the story. The Lib Dems really did treasonously cheer for both a foreign leader and the idea of cancelling Brexit and becoming part of an EU superstate.

If there was ever a moment when a political party openly and publicly pledged allegiance to a foreign power then it was this one. The sight of a major political party cheering the idea of abolishing Britain and quashing the democratic vote to leave the EU, was absolutely sick-making.

It was for me the point when the Lib Dems, a Janus-faced, dishonest and untrustworthy party, turned their conference from the shag and booze festival that it used to be known as, into a nest of plotting traitors. I’ve never trusted the Lib Dems as a party even though I’ve been friendly at times with individual members. They’ve always had the air of a party that tries to be all things to all people and have a long record of talking from both sides of their faces at the same time and to different audiences. However under Jo Swinson the Lib Dem leader, they have at last picked a side and it is a side that is resolutely opposed to the will of the people as expressed in the Referendum of 2016.

The Liberal Democrats are now the party of the unelected EU superstate and not a party that represents the British people as a whole. It certainly does not represent the interests of either classical liberalism or democracy. The Lib Dems are now an organisation that have now publicly stated that they would toss aside Briton’s right to speak and be governed by those we choose, in favour of Britain being run from Brussels and Berlin. If this was the situation, with the third place political party calling for surrender, during the Second World War then I suspect that many of today’s Lib Dems would be prime candidates for detention under rule 18b along with other sympathisers of the enemy.

When the election comes, Britons should remember what happened at the Lib Dem conference this year and how they welcomed the idea of Britain becoming a province of the EU. Voters should ignore the perceived strengths of the Lib Dems which is in local politics and look at the big picture. If you do you will see not a party of moderates, but a party of extremist Britain haters. Do not vote for this party that is now openly saying that it hates you, your family and your country. Britain needs YOU to go down to the Polling Station and tell the Lib Dems and their treason to fuck right off.

  1. Was only talking to a friend last night during a country walk about exactly this; it was a beautiful warm summer’s Sunday evening, not a breath of wind, not a soul to be seen, and views for miles in all directions across the countryside. We looked up at a light aircraft high overhead and it was reminiscent of “The 39 Steps” where in 1913 Hannay sees the German spy-plane and later encounters the circle of spies and traitors who fully intend to deliver this country bound hand-and-foot into the clutches of a Foreign Power.
In para 1, Line 8, surely you mean that ordinary Britons would have been rather than “would not” have been dominated by German princes ?
Simple points that I wish Johnson, Farage etc would spell out are that Brexit is not at all anti-European but is PRO-European in that, by example if nothing else, it is defending the democracy of ALL European countries from a baleful Supra-European political project.
(As this country has done so many times before – people never quite seem to twig that Britain has never used it’s military, industrial, and political power to physically dominate Europe as it could have done over the centuries, but has simply intervened and then pulled out.)
The second is that the outrageously untruthful claims of Remainers such as Swinson, Clarke, Hammond etc that they are motivated by concerns for others’ jobs: their motivations are not remotely based on economic concerns, but on their desire to be part of a ruling clique. The only jobs they care about are their own, and they couldn’t care less if the UK economy followed those of Greece, Spain, Italy etc down the plug-hole as long as they get their way and keep on getting their own pay-cheques and pensions – usually funded by public-money from what I’ve seen of the Remain side. (People with real jobs in manufacturing, retail etc where there is a connection between effort and money, from self-employed one-man band right up to the Tim Martins and Sir Anthony Bamfords of this world – generally have more sense.)
I’d like to see the Euro-fanatics asked – “So if we stay in the EU, and the UK economy shrinks – you’ll be campaigning to leave then ?” and watch them flounder and lie…
