Naz Shah MP finds herself in an awkward position again

Labour MP Naz Shah

The Labour MP Naz Shah, who represents the heavily Islamic area of Bradford West, has a long record for making outrageous statements or doing outrageous and stupid things. Recently, on the anniversary of VE Day no less, she tweeted out an image of Indian Nazi SS volunteers as a way of paying tribute to the many fighters from what was once British India who fought against the Nazis and the Japanese Empire. She has also in the more distant past been suspended from the Labour Party for her various anti-Semitic statements. Naz Shah has praised the misogynistic culture of Pakistan and spoken of it favourably when comparing it to the culture of the United Kingdom.

But that’s not all. Naz Shah has on occasion shown appallingly bad judgement in how she communicates with the public. On one occasion she retweeted a parody Owen Jones account that stated that many girls abused by Islamic Rape Gangs in the town of Rotherham ‘should shut their for the sake of diversity’.

Now Naz Shah, who is seemingly none too popular with the non-Islamic population of her constituency, is in the public eye again for less than good reasons. This time it’s being pictured at an event with a Muslim police officer who is alleged to have been involved in child sex offences.

This picture, which as far as I can tell is undated and is currently circulating around the internet, appears to have been taken at some sort of community event involving two Islamic charities, one of which is involved in working with UNWRA in the Islamic terror statelet of Gaza. Neither of the groups that are heavily featured here appear to be that dodgy as regards terrorism but the main concern here is with one of the people pictured with Naz Shah.

One of the people, the man standing to Naz Shah’s right, is a former police constable who is accused of involvement in sex crimes against children. The man in question is PC Amjad Ditta who previously worked for West Yorkshire Police’s Protective Services Operations Department. This is the department that deals with the management of large political demonstrations, football crowds and various secular and religious festivals that require police involvement in their planning.

Here’s the picture in question:

When Amjad Ditta was charged with sexual offences the BBC said of him:

A police officer and 15 other men from Halifax have appeared in court charged with historical sex offences against children aged between 13 and 16.

West Yorkshire PC Amjad Ditta, 35, also known as Amjad Hussain, appeared at Bradford Magistrates’ Court to face a charge of sexual touching.

He and 15 others are charged with offences against three girls in the Halifax area between 2006 and 2009.

All but one of the 15 other accused in this case are Muslim. They are accused of various offences including drugs offences, rape, sexual assault and threat to kill.

Whilst it’s fair to say that Members of Parliament get pictured with lots of different people at lots of different events and meetings and that Amjad Ditta, like anyone else coming before the courts in Britain is to be considered as innocent until proven guilty, this image is still not a good look for Naz Shah. If any other MP had had his or her picture taken standing next to a person who was later accused of a serious offence, then we may be tempted to be charitable towards them and not lambast them. After all we could all, any of us, be photographed with someone dodgy without our realising that they were dodgy.

But, this is Naz Shah we are talking about here, a person with a long record for hating on Jews and making public statements and doing public things on social media that show appallingly bad judgement. This is just the latest in a long line of incidents where Naz Shah has either said the wrong thing or done the wrong thing. It’s incredibly bad optics on Shah’s part to be pictured with a man accused of a serious sexual offence, especially as it follows on from her many other gaffes and iffy statements.

The non-Muslim residents of her constituency are being really badly served by this awful person. Her actions and her words tarnish the area that she is paid handsomely to represent at Westminster. At the next General Election there needs to be a massive turnout of real physical voters who oppose Shah in order to dilute what is likely to be a Muslim vote bank, maybe even a fraudulent Muslim vote bank, that has kept her in office. The people of Bradford West deserve much better than they are getting from Naz Shah and she deserves to be voted out and replaced with someone who will represent all the constituency’s voters, not just the Muslim part.
