The power of conscience

There’s a short video introduced by the Christian commentator David Wood about a former Muslim who came very close to carrying out a terror attack in London. That he did not is not down to any brake on his plan by Islamic theology or Islamic spirituality, he would have done if he had had the opportunity, but this lack of means to carry out an attack gave a space for his own conscience to find a voice.

His conscience told him that killing innocent people was wrong. He didn’t kill, he didn’t attack and eventually left Islam.

This man is not a psychopath, he’s not inherently evil, he’s just been brainwashed into thinking that the West was an enemy that needed to be fought. This person’s story should show exactly why Muslims who have been brainwashed into hatred, need to be shown the wrong that is in Islam in order for them to hopefully give up Islam in horror and disgust. The world needs more ex-Muslims and the rest of us need to protect them.

Those who have lived within Islam, especially those who have in depth knowledge of Islamic theology are possibly the best weapons around to counter Islam. People like Apostate Prophet for example cannot be dismissed as ‘ignorant’ by Islamic apologists because they were, before they left Islam, extremely well versed in Islamic theology. If he says ‘the Koran says this’ or ‘the Hadiths say that’, then that is what these books say.

Islam as an ideology is fragile both spiritually and intellectually. Unlike other faiths it cannot exist unless there is coercion to keep people within it. The Imams and senior religious leaders know this and fear ordinary Muslims closely examining Islamic texts and Islamic theology lest those who do either leave or find some new reformed path within Islam. In a way these Islamic religious leaders in today’s world are similar in mindset to Medieval Roman Catholic ones. They feared people reading scripture for themselves as they feared a loss of authority for the priestly class and a ground up desire for reform. Is it any wonder the that so many ex Muslims live their lives in fear of violence from those Muslims determined to shut them up? Some may disagree with me but I think that one counter to Islam is to show nominal Muslims the nastiness in the Koran, a book that as Apostate Prophet once said, is probably the least read book in an average Islamic household.
