Celebrity cretins

Some people gain celebrity status because they have achieved something in the arts or in sport, others gain celebrity status because of something much less worthwhile or more nebulous, such as flaunting their tits on Love Island or similar programmes. However what celebrities in both categories seem to have in common is a love of virtue signalling. Social media is full of celebs putting their names to this cause or that cause. Often these celebs do this not because they’ve done any great study into the cause in question or support that cause for deeply personal reasons, but because it increases their public profile and gives them more clicks to their name. These people are either deeply cynical or are merely celebrity cretins.

It seems that the racist Black Lives Matter movement has attracted an awful lot of celebrity cretins to their cause. At one point you couldn’t move on Twitter and other legacy social media platforms for all the celebrities from A list to Z list, voicing their support for BLM.

The problem for these cretinous celebrities is that they didn’t bother doing the most basic research into what the BLM group was. They just virtue signalled without thought. Apart from stupidity, why they did this may well be down to the fact that they were afflicted by groupthink, were told to support BLM by their bosses as in the case of the Premiership footballers, or as the comedian Konstantin Kisin has said that people were frightened not to join in with the cheerleading lest they be ‘cancelled’ or attacked by the liberal Left hate mob.

Mostly however, I believe that mindless stupidity has been behind the outpouring of celebrity support for BLM. Just because someone is a celebrity doesn’t mean that they are the sharpest tool in the box.

The vast majority of the celebrities who boosted the BLM group online do not seem to have done any research into this group whatsoever. They just tweeted their support and then sat back feeling good about themselves. They didn’t bother to take five minutes or less exploring what BLM themselves say about their aims which include abolishing capitalism and defunding police forces. They also didn’t bother to look to see what political current motivated BLM. If they did then they would have seen that ever since its inception many years ago in the United States of America, BLM have been an explicitly Marxist entity with the usual Marxist habit of hating on Israel, the only Jewish state in the entire world.

But there are signs that the virtue signallers are starting to realise that they’ve virtue signalled far too early and shown a shocking lack of independence of mind and been made to look foolish. The Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is starting to backtrack over his very overt support for the BLM/Marxists and some football pundits and former footballers are also starting to ask awkward questions of the BLM/Marxists.

This belated realisation that BLM are not reasonable MLK types but are instead violent Marxist scumbags, is very welcome. But it would have been preferable for these virtue signalling cretins to have done their research before their very public and very foolish virtue signalling for BLM/Marxists.

What I can’t understand is that if I, a lowly blogger, without staff or flunkeys or people to do my research for me, was aware that BLM have been a bunch of shitty, dangerous Marxists ever since they first came to prominence following the fatal shooting of a Black criminal Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, then why weren’t the celebrity virtue signallers. Anyone with more than half a brain would have seen that the BLM / Marxists were not interested in equality between the races, but are an explicitly far left Marxist entity. I can take the time to check followers on social media before following them in order to see whether or not they are lunatics of either the Left or the Right or whether they want to bung me and my family into a concentration camp, then why on earth cannot these virtue signalling celebrities, high profile politicians and lavishly rewarded footballers do the same?

Celebrities on the whole, although there are exceptions, are rarely gifted with significant political or cultural knowledge and they have a tendency to gob off at anything and everything in order to keep their names in the public eye. It is for this reason that taking political advice from those who have appeared on low brow reality television shows or whose main skill is sport or commenting on sport, is rarely a good idea. The vacuous, virtue signalling celebrities have been caught out really badly by their support for the BLM / Marxist thugs. I do hope that this episode will make celebrities less willing in the future to comment on matters that they know little or nothing about.

They are supporting the organisers of riots which – so far as I have read, anyway – have claimed some 30 lives in the USA so far – nearly all black Black and Hispanic.

How does supporting the morally-responsible-for-murder “BLACK LIVES LOST” count as any form of virtue-signalling ?

Every celebrity, politician, and firm supporting BLM should be sent a list of the dead, the injured, the job losses, the properties destroyed etc, and asked to explain why they support death and destruction…..

PS – an good image with which to head any similar article on self-important celebrities spouting-off on subjects about which they know the square-root of sod-all, would be the one going around on Facebook at the moment; a picture of Lineker with the slogan “How selling crap food to fat kids made me an expert on Brexit….”

    cheers,
    Phil
