Emmanuel Macron says something sensible for once.

French President Emmanuel Macron

The French President Emmanuel Macron is not exactly many people’s favourite person, he’s not even that popular with the French as could be seen by the massive Yellow Vest protests that have engulfed France in recent years and were caused in large part by Macron’s ‘green’ policies. He’s also not been that proactive in dealing with France’s growing Islam related problems which have created dozens of no go areas where police, fire brigade and ordinary decent French citizens fear to enter.

However, on the subject of the inefficacy and damage caused by what are being seen by many as increasingly unjustifiable Coronavirus lockdowns, Macron has said something sensible. Macron has according to the Foundation for Economic Education website, ruled out any further lockdowns because of the damage that the previous lockdown did to France’s economy.

The Foundation for Economic Education reports that Macron said the following:

We cannot shut down the country, because the collateral damage of confinement is considerable,” Macron said in an interview with Paris Match magazine, according to National Post.

Macron is correct. The alleged lockdown ‘cure’ for Covid is far far worse than the disease itself. France has lost 13% of its economy due to the lockdown and he is one of the first of the world leaders who previously embraced lockdown to come out and speak of the damage that it has done.

If Macron can recognise that the lockdowns are not only having little effect on the number of cases of a disease that is increasingly being seen as not as lethal as first imagined, then other nation’s leaders should do the same. The British government should recognise the damage that going over the top with regards Covid has done and follow Macron’s lead and abandon lockdowns and all the other restrictions that have been brought in as a futile effort to prevent the spread of Covid. Britain like France needs to get back to work and soon or we will be looking at decimated economies with all the social disruption and conflict that such a situation will bring.
