Dover, a personal post mortem

First let me say that I have the utmost admiration for those who are monitoring and documenting the invasion of Britain by illegals that is coming across the English Channel, an invasion that seems be being facilitated by the French government and wealthy left leaning NGO’s. The likes of Little Veteran and Active Patriot and others who have filmed this invasion and highlighted it and quite frankly put the MSM to shame on how they’ve covered this story need to be praised. Those who have monitored the invasion have also exposed Boris Johnson’s duplicity over the issue of mass migration, which is a betrayal that according to Migration Watch and relayed by The Conservative Woman, will bite the government on the arse in the former Red Wall seats come the next election.

But, the demonstration in Dover against this invasion that took place on the 5th September brought to mind a word that I hoped I would not have to use in conjunction with it and that word is ‘shambles’. I didn’t attend this demonstration as I had family commitments but after watching some of the livestreams and other coverage of it, I’m glad I didn’t go.

Poor planning, poor intelligence, poor execution and a failure to learn from the successes and failures of the past and of other groups, whether they are on our Patriot side or not, handed the police, the MSM and the Far Left a relatively easy victory. About the only victory that the Patriot side can take from this is that now even more Britons know and understand about the biased policing that we in Britain suffer from. Many out there have now seen the stark difference to how Patriot groups and the BLM / Marxist demonstrations are policed. We’ve all seen now how it’s kneeling by the police for BLM / Marxist scum but riot gear for the Patriot groups. That is a victory of sorts for the Dover patriot demonstrators, but sadly a Pyrrhic one.

Here, in my view at least is my interpretation of what went wrong.

1. The ‘go slow’.

This was poorly publicised by the organisers of this demo that’s the first criticism. The second criticism of it is that it was the sort of action that is very easily shut down by the police. All they needed to do was nick the drivers of lead vehicles and that would be all that would be needed to intimidate others from taking part and saying ‘sod this’ and giving up. The Government and the police have long since learned the lessons of the Fuel Protests of the early 2000’s and can shut down vehicular protests very easily. There’s a reason why groups like XR do not do these sort of rolling roadblock protests and that is because they do not work. The organisers should have foreseen police tactics and either done something else entirely or had a plan B for dealing with a shutdown of this part of the protest. Also nobody seems to have considered that the main roads leading to and from Dover are some of the most closely monitored by CCTV in the UK. This means that the police can head off such rolling roadblock protests before they even get properly started. Also I’m not sure if blocking legitimate travellers from the port is really the best way to win friends and influence people, especially as the demonstrators have already been demonised by the MSM as ‘far right’ even if that is not and was not the character of the demo.

2. The Pedestrian demonstrators

Again poor organisation characterised this aspect of the demo. Demonstrators seemed to be just wandering around aimlessly and in such a manner that they almost invited kettling by the police. The event was poorly stewarded and marshalled and there was no attempt to curtail the wankers who just went there in order to allegedly scream ‘cunt’ in the faces of police officers. I tend to agree with Ex Army Paz that this is not a good look. Yes the police at the demo were arseholes but the thing to remember is history tends to look back unkindly on those who excuse their behaviour with the words ‘I was only following orders’. Softly softly catchee monkey is probably a better long term course of action than pointless aggression towards the police, quite a few of whom would probably rather not be policing this demo.

A dual action tactic with a properly organised demo with aspects of NVDA (non violent direct action) such as sit downs and peaceable but eye-catching stunts of the sort used by other groups of right, left and centre, to back up a go slow that would be inevitably broken up by the police, might have been a far better option. Also draping yourself in a Union Flag and wandering around aimlessly might make the individual demonstrator feel good but it just makes the individual a bit of an arrest magnet. There’s a time for flags and flag waving but maybe this was not one of them? Personally I’d have preferred to see banners unfurled from bridges and other structures and small but peaceable groupings doing stunts that would have both stretched the opposition and not alienated the general public.

I’ve been on hundreds of demonstrations, some organised by the Left, some by the Right and some by various freedom related groups and causes as a participator and many many more as a press photographer in the late 80’s and early 90’s, including at events like the Wapping dispute and the Poll Tax protests. Because of my experience with demonstrations I noticed several instances from the videos from Dover where the police left diversion opportunities open that were not taken by the demonstrators. I very much doubt that the police will make the same mistake again.

3. Humint and Comms

There seems to have been very little attempt in the run up to this demo to get local people onside, not just to provide attendees for the demo but also to provide humint about what’s going on, local geographical knowledge and maybe even physical support and shelter for out of town attendees. Getting local people, who probably suffer from the effects of the invaders just as much as other people in other places, was crucial but seems to have been completely ignored as a tactic. Communications by demonstration organisers to keep this event running smoothly appears to have been non existent which I believe, along with the lack of marshalling and stewarding, contributed to the problem of people aimlessly wandering around and allowing themselves to be kettled by police.

4. Conclusion

The police, the far Left establishment counter demonstrators and the ‘lugenpress’ of the MSM were ready for this demo and it shows. The demonstrators also allowed themselves to in Chess terms to be ‘fools mated’ by allowing a high profile person, the Little Veteran to be left in a vulnerable position and easily arrested. On Leftist demos I’ve seen in the past, the megaphone people are often not at the front of a crowd and therefore easy to pick off but some way back and surrounded by people whom the police have to nick first in order to silence the megaphone.

I expected better of this demo especially as the issue of the illegal invasion and the Government’s failure to tackle it, is one that is vexing a lot of people. It’s interesting to note that this Dover demo has changed nothing apart from highlighting the double standard in how we are policed yet the actions by Nigel Farage and others to show just how bad the illegal migrant situation and how these illegals are coddled by the State has had a big influence. The Dover demonstrators could have done things more peacefully, more intelligently and more effectively than they did.

The organisers of this demo oversold it big time. One ad for it said that this was the ‘biggest call up of patriots to defend Britain since World War II’. Personally I’m glad that this shower was not in charge during WWII because if they had I’ve little doubt that Britain would have lost and myself and my family would have been ‘deported to the East’.

  1. Same as the shambles and loons at Freedom rallies then. The
    ‘problem’ is two-fold

    1. Non ‘Left SJW CM” are good people and don’t want to cause problems, be arrested etc

    2. Non ‘Left SJW CM” value their time and don’t want to waste it on meetings, bureaucracy, confrontations etc

Far Right accusations have become absurd with C4 News labelling Rod Liddle and Piers Corbyn as Far-Right

I’m surprised plod didn’t arrest and issue Dictator Hancock’s 5b Law £10,000 fixed penalty fines in Dover

Yeh organisation is important I just felt it was lacking here people walked into obvious blind alleys. Shame as I really wanted this to be a success. Good point about those not on the Left who either have better more pressing things to do and also want to avoid problems. Totally agree with you about the accusations of ‘far right’, they’ve been far too over used and those who have taken themselves the time to inform themselves about politics and who are not recognisably ‘far right’ don’t take these accusations seriously. If you heard some Lefties / Islam types speaking about me you’d think I was donning jackboots and gearing up to invade Poland, an image that neither myself nor my Rabbi would agree with. The problem is one day these outlets are going to run a story about a real far right nutjob and nobodies going to believe them as they’ve robbed the phrase of both honesty and accuracy. As for the Covid fines bollocks, they might try that later and target the organisers.

These coronabollocks powers are indeed dictatorial. I hate them with an absolute passion. When we knew little about Covid I supported some form of restriction / social distancing but now we know what Covid is and that it is not as lethal as first assumed they are absolutely unnecessary.
