From Elsewhere: Godfrey Bloom is right. Too many of Britain’s police are thuggish, politically motivated and un-British.

The commentator Godfrey Bloom is about as traditional a British person as one could get. This is not to denigrate him but to compliment him. You could probably not find a person more committed to law and order, fair play and common sense than Mr Bloom, a former military man who has worked and trained alongside police officers for such things as preparing for civil contingencies and emergencies.

So when a man like Godfrey Bloom, a man who has extensive contacts with police offices on a social and professional basis, calls out Britain’s police forces as being warped by politics, which have behaved in a thuggish and authoritarian manner and which have morphed into something distinctly un-British, then it’s probably wise to listen to him. I’m afraid that Mr Bloom is sadly 100% correct.

We used to shudder at the politically motivated police officers that existed elsewhere or the Nazi Gestapo that policed the German citizen’s thoughts and words and at the grossly authoritarian, capricious and often dishonest way that other nations were policed. We used to thank our lucky stars that we were not a Frenchman, a German, an Italian of a Spaniard whose police forces were both bent as as fork and behaved like occupying forces rather than the Peelian idea of citizens in uniform. We used to say that ‘this could not happen here’, but unfortunately it has and something drastic needs to be done politically to stop things getting worse.

Please watch Mr Bloom’s video below and allow yourself to be angry at what Britain’s police forces have been turned into.

By Tony Blair & Gordon Brown, then joyfully continued by fellow socialists Cameron, May and Boris
