Quote of the Day for 29/09/2020 – Arrogance and hubris indeed

Just seen this over at the Longrider blog.

Prime ministers and Governments cannot control the spread of an airborne pathogen. Only a psychopath puffed up with a planet-sized hubris would even try to suggest that he or his government can.

It’s very difficult to disagree with. The Boris Johnson cabal need to go and go soon along with the Covid restrictions before the entire nation is destroyed. I’m beginning to wonder who has done the most damage to British society, the Luftwaffe during World War II or Boris Johnson’s government? Personally I believe that recovery the damage done by Johnson’s Covid policies will take far longer to undertake than the damage done to the UK economy and society after WWII.

  1. The problem is that there no potential credible alternative to BoJO’s government. Starrmet and the Lib Dems would be even worse. UKIP are stuck in a rut they show no signs of escaping from. The Brexit Party is a single issue group. Things will get worse before they get better. Right now there is no silver lining except we care free from the EU.

  2. There are rumours today that a ‘trojan horse’ is being lined up to challenge Johnson for leadership. A lot depends on tomorrow and if Brady’s amendment given a vote by speaker

I’d forgotten this until David Davis reminded yesterday: Hancock wanted the Emergency Power to last Two Years, MPs said no and approved six months – should have been No, FO

  3. Agree with Michael; Bojo has been a dismal leader but there’s no one better waiting to replace him and, knowing how most of the electorate reacts, losing BoJo will probably result in a lurch towards Labour at the next GE. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t.
