From Elsewhere: Medhi Hasan is engaging in hyperbole.

The purchase by the billionaire Elon Musk of the Twitter platform has caused left wingers heads to explode. Comments by Mr Musk that allude to a new future Twitter policy of free speech within the law have caused the Left to show exactly what they are frightened of and it’s plain that what they are frightened of is freedom of speech. The Left have controlled the narrative on Twitter for so long that they are panicking about losing control of this platform and are showing that they are really not comfortable with having their ideas challenged.

The leftist commentators have gone completely mad over the Twitter purchase and for those of us who support freedom of speech, even when I find such speech personally offensive, the censorious Left’s discomfort is a welcome sight. For too long the Left have misused the power of platform moderation to silence views that they disagree with until we have the current ludicrous situation where a person can be banned from Twitter for merely stating biological facts about humanity. Moderation on social media platforms should be strictly limited to preventing stalking and to prevent credible and immediate calls for violence. This power should not be used merely for stopping users giving the dictionary definition of what a woman is.

One of the leftist commentators who has completely lost his shit over the Twitter purchase is the British left wing and Islamic commentator Medhi Hasan. According to a great and informative video by Jeremy from The Quartering channel on You Tube Hasan ranted on MSNBC about the the Twitter purchase and accused Elon Musk of ‘handing Twitter over to the far right’.

This is such a steaming pile of crap that comes out of Hasan’s mouth. Allowing freedom of speech within the law does not automatically equate to giving the modern day supporters of the Uni-Testicled Austrian Corporal a massive boost. What bringing back a free speech policy to Twitter would do is merely bring back those run of the mill Conservatives who have been removed from Twitter by the Lefties. I don’t for a minute believe that the likes of Hasan are frightened in any real sense of being targeted for abuse by a tiny number of jackboot lickers, I believe that what Hasan and those like him are frightened of is not being able to control narratives, of having their ideas and their ideologies challenged especially where their ideologies have holes in them big enough to drive a lorry through.
