From Elsewhere: Lord Frost speaks.

I don’t often spend much time at Conservative Home. In my view many of those who write there are from the more red tory end of the conservative spectrum rather than what I would see as traditional toryism. Although I agree with some of the views of some of the writers on there it’s also the case that some of those contributing to Conservative Home might be more appropriately placed in the Liberal Democrats.

But occasionally Conservative Home produces what is for me a real winner of a piece. Such a piece is an interview with Lord Frost by Andrew Gimson and Paul Goodman.

In this article Lord Frost speaks eloquently of his his life and views. He speaks of his slow conversion to the idea of leaving the EU, the necessity of him having to suppress, whilst in the Civil Service, his growing Eurosceptic thoughts because of his duty of impartiality, the dangers posed by this government’s Net Zero obsession and the Northern Ireland Protocol among much else. He also talked about his new found fame which has come about as his media profile has expanded and which he has found somewhat discomforting.

This interview is well worth the time it takes to read. I got a much more rounded impression of Lord Frost and in my view a much more positive view of the man than I get I many of the mainstream media mentions of him.

  1. I sed to have an account at Con Home but soon found its not possible to say anything critical about the Conservative party. Even though I was then a party member suddenly all my comments were simply deleted in one swoop for failing to toe the party line in the required fashion. If constructive debate isn’t allowed is there really any point in visiting Con Home? In many ways you will be “No platformed” if they don’t approve your views while decrying other for doing the same thing.

That’s interesting about Con Home. It backs up to a great degree my experience of the Con Home mindset.
