A truly magnificent send off.

The Queen's coffin

Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a monarch who has served the British people with absolute dedication to duty, was finally laid to rest yesterday. The send off in the form of a State Funeral, was magnificent and one that her late Majesty truly deserved.

Everyone who took part in the ceremony from the military personnel, the clerics, to the police and the public played their part with awesome precision, impressiveness and respect. Even some of the politicians, who are rarely held by the public to be the most trustworthy or loved parts of our constitutional system did well on the whole. The recently appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss found herself in glare of the floodlights of the world when she read from scripture at the funeral and acquitted herself well.

What we saw with regards the funeral was Britain at its best. This was the dutiful, respectful, fair minded and law abiding Britain on display in the queues to pay respects to Her late Majesty at Westminster Hall and at the various commemorations of the late Monarch’s life that took place across the country. The image that we had of Britain from the various commemorations and indeed of the funeral itself was the real Britain, the decent Britain not the mess of a nation Britain as described by the Guardian and similar outfits. This was Britons, of all types and from all walks of life, being confidently British in a way that is rarely expressed politically and it was wonderful to see. It was Britons recognising duty and service and it gives me hope that despite the damage that has been done to Britain over many years by either well meaning or malevolent followers of the Left, such admirable qualities such as the recognition of duty and service are not gone from modern Britain.

  1. A wonderful funeral service for a wonderful monarch. I am no fan of the BBC but I must confess their coverage was really good. A day that will long linger in the memory.
