Social media lit up about the subject of the recent explosion in Bristol that killed two people. Many people were getting up on their high horse about this incident being Islamic terrorism. Those of a more paranoid, suspicious and generally anti-State nature had decided, without evidence of course, that this incident was Islamic terrorism and that the police had decided to hide this fact from the public.
Defence of the police’s position with regards to their communications with the public and the dispensing of the fact that the presence of the military bomb squad in situations like this is routine, fell on deaf ears. This failure to believe the police or to reasonably assume that the police might be telling the truth coupled with a disbelief that bomb squad attendance at incidents like this, is unsurprising. A gradual loss of trust in the police created too often by the police themselves because of their mishandling of certain crimes or a perception that they police on a two tier basis has greatly contributed to this mistrust of the police.
However, it’s wise to remember that not every explosion is a result of either terrorism or the preparation for terrorist acts. Sometimes lethal explosions can be the result of stupidity on the part of individuals doing stupid things, maybe someone storing flammable gases wrongly, or shorting out a car battery or making home made fireworks or some other bit of idiocy. Also some explosions whilst they may not be terrorism are the result of criminal activity.
It’s becoming pretty clear now that the Bristol explosion was definitely not terrorism but appears to be the result of a criminal act connected to a domestic violence situation.
The Metro newspaper said:
The man who ‘killed himself and his ex-girlfriend with a grenade’ at a house in Bristol has been named.
Police called to a domestic fight at a home were just moments away from death after being called to the location on Sterncourt Road this Sunday.
Ryan Kelly, 41, has now been identified as the man who died at the property.
Neighbours claimed that the female victim, who has not been publicly named, had just moved to a terraced home on the Bristol street to escape her ex-partner.
Wayne Smith, 58, told The Sun: ‘He’s turned up at her house with a grenade and detonated it on the doorstep and killed the pair of them.’
So, this explosion wasn’t’ Islam related, it wasn’t terrorism and it wasn’t an accident. It was a common or garden violent crime.
Even taking into account the fact that Britain has suffered and will continue to suffer from Islam-inspired terrorism, those who commented on this and claimed it was should maybe take a long hard look at themselves. They gobbed off without facts, without evidence and they gobbed off about their own expectations and their own prejudices. These people who have done this have been made to look utterly foolish.
Maybe the next time there’s an incident like this maybe consider whether or not the information you’ve got or found about it is correct. This is for two reasons. The first is that the country is now an utter tinderbox. We saw this with the untrue rape complaint that occurred in Epsom in Surrey recently where someone got confused following a head injury and made a gang rape complaint that turned out to be baseless. This complaint prior to it being found to be baseless, brought out angry mobs onto the streets of Epsom with the mob going from property to property trying to find the multiple occupied home (HMO) that the rumours had said had been occupied by the alleged rapist. Unfortunately mobs are notorious for not getting the facts right and instead of picketing the ‘rapist’s’ HMO, they instead ended up gathering outside a home for vulnerable adults, probably distressing the residents. Do we really want innocent people targeted because some idiots have got it into their heads that something is one thing when it is in reality something else? I don’t and neither should any other sensible person.
The second reason is that mouthing off and saying that something is Islamic terrorism when it isn’t muddies the waters and makes it difficult for everyone including the police and the Thames House lot (MI5) to discern what is real terrorism and what is merely internet scuttlebutt. If there are genuine Islamic terrorists out there then these genuine Islamic terrorists might get lost in the noise of false reports about terrorism that isn’t there.
Of course I agree with those who say the police have lost a large amount of the trust of the public and that it is primarily the police’s fault that this situation exists. After so many police errors dating back to the 1970’s and which encompass the Guildford Four case, numerous incidences of police corruption, the scandals surrounding police inaction with regarding the rape gangs and the zeal with which police forces have enforced ‘speech crime’ laws with regards to criticism of Islam and criticism of the Cult of Trans, is it any wonder that the police are distrusted?
However sometimes, despite the deficiencies of various police forces, the police do tell the truth. The Bristol explosion incident was not terrorism but was yet another nasty domestic violence attack which on this occasion not only took the life of the abuser but also their innocent former partner.
I have worked in environments where I have to be as sure as possible about what I say when I say it, where if I got things wrong it could have meant a nasty legal bill for my employer or a nasty international incident. This and seeing others get caught out promoting stuff that is untrue and coming unstuck or incurring reputational damage, has made me more and more wary about declaring, without strong enough evidence, that an incident is definitely one thing when in reality it could be something else. Maybe others should do the same and not mouth off confidently when they are not absolutely sure that what they are saying is correct.
