There can be many a slip between cup and lip. There are scandals that might afflict Andy Burnham.

Peter North the political commentator who I have a lot of time for even when I might not agree with him on some issues, has got in early regarding assessments of Andy Burnham. ‘I already hate Burnham more than Starmer’ said Mr North. I tend to agree with Mr North on this matter and it will not be long I believe until many others also start to agree with him.

I certainly do. I hate what looks to be Burnham’s proposed very left wing policies which will hinder not help Britain’s economy. I hate the obviously false ‘cheeky chappie’ act Burnham puts on and which stinks greatly of communications management. I hate his hubris and arrogance and blazing sense of self-entitlement. I hate him because I very much doubt that a Burnham led government will do all that is needed and necessary to make the lives of Britons better than they are.

He won’t tackle migration both legal and illegal, he won’t turn away from the extreme green cult who are behind policies that are killing industries and impoverishing and bringing misery to the British people. Also as a creature of the Lanyard Classes, certainly not the working classes that Burnham pretends he’s from, he’s unlikely to acknowledge that there is a massive amount of improvement needed in entities such as the NHS, the police, the justice system and local government. He’s not going to hurt his own class which is that of the nation’s petty administrators and factotums. He won’t hit the bloated and parasitic state because that state is Burnham’s state.

Expect Burnham to continue to pander to religious sectarian interests and the now completely hollowed out ‘LGBTQ’ movement. Burnham is not your man if you have concerns about hate preachers, the massive growth in religiously inspired Jew hatred, electoral corruption by way of ‘family voting’ both in person and via postal votes and the suppurating and continuing sore of Grooming Gangs. Burnham is also not likely to be the man for you if you believe in the importance and primacy of biological sex in access to public services and in public life in general. He’s going to be leading a party where too many of the MP’s he will be relying on for support in the House of Commons have brains that are thoroughly and completely addled by Gender Ideology. I very much doubt that Burnham will have the balls to stand up for biological reality or the rights of women to have places and services that are for women only and free of men including the men in dresses.

I predict that like all those who are all style and no substance and who follow the path of the middle class Left he will not be a friend of those who with to make use of their inalienable (as my American friends say) right to speak freely about controversial or pressing issues. He will be as censorious or maybe even more so than Starmer has been and that’s because free discussion of controversial political issues is anathema to the likes of Burnham.

But there is many a slop twixt cup and lip as the old saying goes. Neither Burnham nor many of those around him nor his supposed ideological background is unhindered by potential scandal. Like a cauldron of pigshit on a fire which is only started to simmer before it boils up and boils over there might be scandals bubbling up which although they might not affect the pro-Burnham views of the supine, dim and foolish members of the Labour Parliamentary party, could tarnish Burnham’s reputation just as he starts his premiership.

Firstly there are questions surrounding how Andy Burnham reacted to the Grooming Gang scandal when it pertained to the area that he was governing as Mayor of Greater Manchester. There have been allegations from Reform (see link below) that Burnham was not exactly feisty when it came to exposing the monstrous crimes, too often carried out by Muslims, that occurred in his area and maybe under his watch. Reform allege that Burnham when he had a chance to expose what had happened instead chose to take part in the cover up of at least some of the Grooming Gang related problems. Reform must be pretty sure of their ground to be able to say this and it may be something that emerges strongly and becomes a baton with which to beat Burnham with. The Labour Parliamentary party will not care if these allegations that Burnham had some role in covering up the Grooming Gang issue are true, Labour MP’s have proven time and time again they don’t give a toss about raped, trafficked, tortured and murdered girls if their plight was the fault of majority Muslim rape gangs. However there’s a lot outside of Parliament who do care and will use that knowledge to attack Burnham.

Then there is what lies underneath the word ‘Manchesterism’ which might be more murky than it appears. To many the word ‘Manchesterism’ brings to mind the likes of Joseph Chamberlain who as Mayor or Birmingham streamlined energy distribution and who improved the lot of the people of that city. But it’s likely that Burnham’s ‘Manchesterism’ will be a whole lot less than that.

The commentator Jim Chimirie writing on X has dug into what Burnham’s Manchesterism really means and he’s uncovered a nest of murkiness behind ‘Manchesterism’ These include a failure to deliver the ‘affordable’ homes promised, failure to reduce rough sleeping, mismanagement of loans to private developers by failure to obtain a statement of assets prior to the loans, Greater Manchester failing to be transparent with data when required to be and a subsidised transport system that doesn’t make money but costs every local taxpayer £30 per year on top of their Council Tax. Please read Mr Chimirie’s post below it’s an absolute eye opener.

Grooming gangs, fiscal shenanigans, a fondness for tax and spend, transparency issues and much more could blow up between now and when Labour give this man the job of Prime Minister.

It’s quite likely that Burnham will enter his premiership being hated by all but the Labour Party a situation that not even Margaret Thatcher faced either when becoming Leader of the Opposition or as Prime Minister. Back then there were some across social classes who saw Mrs Thatcher as a person who recognised Britain’s problems but I’m seeing very few people who think that Andy Burnham is that sort of character. This is because Burnham is not an answer to Britain’s problems, he’s part of the reason why we have some of our problems.

I agree with Mr North. I’m going to hate Burnham now to save time and disappointment later.
