From Elsewhere: Oh what a surprise or rather not. National Security Advisor not security vetted.

In an article a few days ago I wondered how Britain’s National Security Advisor Jonathan Powell was security cleared, bearing in mind that his wife is a full on screaming Pally Wanker? Well according to a piece that I was able to read some of in the Spectator, Powell wasn’t even security vetted in the first place. Isn’t being lax with security vetting how we ended up with the Mandelson Affair where Lord Peter Mandelson was given the job of Ambassador to the United States without being properly vetted?

The Spectator said:“Jonathan Powell was not security vetted before being given his post as Britain’s national security adviser, The Spectator can report. In a previously unreported aspect of his evidence to parliament about the Peter Mandelson affair, Keir Starmer’s former chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, said:

It didn’t jump out to me as a problem that [Mandelson’s] DV [developed vetting] was happening after the announcement [of his appointment]. That is what happened in the case of the National Security Adviser.

McSweeney also said that ‘Jonathan Powell, too, got appointed before the necessary work’ and that ‘we made a political appointment for National Security Adviser, in Jonathan Powell. As far as I remember, we appointed him and then we began the DV [developed vetting]’.”

What an absolute mess the British government is in where a National Security Advisor doesn’t get security vetted and it turns out later that his wife is a supporter or giving the impression of being a supporter of the Islamist and Left wing extremists of ‘Palestine Action’
