Trudeau hangs on in Canada

Scandal riddled soy boy Justin Trudeau has hung on as Prime Minister of Canada following yesterday’s Federal Canadian elections. However, his party’s number of seats seems to have been reduced and he is now leading a minority Liberal government.

Without a majority of seats in the Canadian House of Commons, Trudeau does run the risk of being outvoted on crucial matters by other parties should the occasion arise although it’s possible that he could align with other leftist party members such as sole Green MP to increase his power. According to the Canadian state broadcaster https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/federal-election-results-2019-cbc-leaders-1.5329485https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/federal-election-results-2019-cbc-leaders-1.5329485, the Liberals have lost 21 of the seats that they held prior to the election. The Conservative Party did well but not well enough and rose from 95 seats to 122. The Bloc Quebecois also did well rising from 10 seats to 29. Maxime Bernier of the PPC despite being the Canadian Right’s great hope for change lost his seat to a Conservative.

Trudeau did best it seems in areas such as Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario which is unsurprising as some of these areas are ones of high population. I would guess that urban liberals in these areas contributed to Trudeau’s win whilst other areas in Canada’s interior voted Conservative.

It seems that Canada is stuck with Trudeau for the foreseeable future and I wonder how long that will be? Minority governments are not altogether stable and could fall if pushed hard enough or if they gather enough negative feeling and scandal around them. Personally I think that this result is bad news for Canadians especially rural Canadians and those who have been shocked and angered by Trudeau’s incessant Islamopandering. The big bright spot as I see it is that the Conservatives seem to be on a resurgent path and that could bode well for the future.
