Crisis, what crisis? A place where social distancing appears to be unknown and might be a possible hotspot for disease.

The location of Newham in Greater London

I saw and downloaded a short piece of video recently that came from a source that I regard as trustworthy and is footage that I can verify quite easily was filmed during the current Chinese Covid19 emergency although the actual date is at present unknown. What this video shows is High Street North in East Ham in the London Borough of Newham during what is supposed to be a nationwide ‘lockdown’ situation.

Contrary to what one might expect, the video below does not show empty streets with people dutifully practising social distancing as they are in my more semi-rural small city area and neither do they show police heavyhandedly breaking up groups or close formation queues for shops. What this video does show however is the blatant disregard that the population of the migrant and Islam heavy population of Newham have for the government’s recommendations that people keep some social distance, to not gather in groups and to avoid passing on the Chinese Covid19 virus.

This video backs up what my contacts in the borough have been telling me what has been going on. Sources, both Christian and Sikh have infomed me that there is a problem with Newham’s Muslims in particular failing to self-isolate and who have also taken a fatalistic, ‘leave it to Allah’ view of Covid19. This attitude as you can see from the video, is not only confined to Muslims. The video shows what looks like a significant number of Africans who are also failing to abide by any sort of social distancing advice.

What this video does not show is any action on the part of the police in Newham to space individuals out in what is a remarkably busy high street bearing in mind the current circumstances. Whilst I accept that this video is but a small snapshot of the day and may not be completely representative of police action in the area, sadly I believe that it may well be representative of how this crisis is being policed in Newham. Somehow, I doubt that members of Britain’s less than satisfactory police forces (something of an understatement I’m afraid), would be willing to risk the sort of unrest that might occur if the police steamed in with the same sort of enforcement enthusiasm in Islam and migrant dominated Newham, that they reserve for Jewish bakers and Derbyshire dog walkers. Is this another example of policing double standards? Well it most certainly could be.

Newham is I believe going to turn into a serious sink of infection for Covid19. This is because Newham is a very densely populated area and contains a lot, possibly a majority, of people whose cultural and religious practises along with familial and social structures, that make transmission of Covid19 much more likely. At the time of writing fully 1% of Newham’s residents are testing positive for Covid19. That’s 370 cases from 352,005 total population. This is only the number for those tested, the real number of infections is liable to be much higher. It is quite possible that there may be those with Covid19 there who are asymptomatic or who are carriers or who are suffering from a mild form of the disease who may be unidentified. Newham also has, like similar migrant heavy areas, a problem with illegal migrants and illegal migrants are much less likely to approach healthcare organisations when unwell for fear of being deported.

Before I continue I want to make this very clear to those who read this piece. Whilst I despise the ideology of Islam and the damage it is doing to the world, I bear no ill will or hatred towards those who are brainwashed into Islam. If you tell people that ‘Allah will protect you’ (despite much evidence to the contrary) in a bad situation, including a pandemic and the family and community back up that brainwashing with violence and coercion, then it’s little wonder that so many of the Muslim residents of Newham behave in the way that they appear to be behaving. I think a lot of decent and half decent people who just happen to have been born Muslim, are going to fall victim to Covid19 in Newham and similar Islam dominated areas in the UK. After all a life, is a life, is a life I do not desire death for those who believe bad things, instead I want them to change their minds and believe good things as an alternative.

The family and living structures of the Muslims and other third world migrants in Newham, with a few exceptions among the Sikhs and the Hindus who I’ve found tend to be better educated and respect education more than some other groups do, is in my view going to be a factor in a lot of deaths. In these less well educated groups multi-generational families are common as is overcrowding. These are the sort of conditions in which communicable diseases thrive. It should not be forgotten that diseases that Britain once totally wiped out on our shores such as Tuberculosis, are still present in worryingly high numbers in Newham. In 2017 Newham had 48 cases of TB per 100k of population which although still awful is not as awful as it used to be with 78 cases of TB per 100k of population. Assuming that the levels of TB in Newham is still 48, lets be generous and say 40 per 100k, then this still leaves a lot of people with compromised bodies who are then much more liable to contract Covid19. Also this TB figure may not be inclusive of illegals who if included may push up the figure for TB somewhat.

Newham is a borough with all the conditions necessary for the perfect Covid19 storm. There is overcrowding, dense population levels, an uncohesive population that just ‘does their own thing’ without reference to the wider picture, superstition, religious extremism, poor education and quite frankly medieval levels of fatalism. I’m familiar with Newham, I worked in retail for a while on the street featured in the video when I’d just left school and was finding my feet. I’ve watched the area go from a normal port borough with the usual for these areas mix of races and religions where everybody at least tried to get on and do right by their neighbour no matter what their skin colour or deity, to what it is today, which is a place of cultural chaos.

The cultural chaos that now characterises Newham is going to make fighting Covid19 in that area very difficult. How could it be anything else when there is no real cultural and communal cohesion to speak of and people living in and having loyalty to their own communal silos? Ominiously, knowing what I know about Newham, I’m beginning to wonder if it was not by accident that the Government decided to site not just a 4000 bed temporary hospital in the borough, but also a massive temporary morgue that is very near to the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium? Have these entities been sited where they are precisely because the government expects Newham to become somewhat of a Covid19 hotspot? Neither I nor anybody else can be sure that this was in the Government’s mind when building these entities, but if I was a disaster planner, I would certainly take into account the special factors that apply to Newham that could be predictors of a large death toll.

I hope I’m wrong but it’s quite possible that Covid19 is going to hit Newham pretty hard and I’d advise anyone living there to keep as far away from others as they can if they can. We might be lucky and most of the population there have already contracted and recovered from Covid19, in which case this part of the UK has dodged a bullet, but if we are unlucky then we might be seeing significant levels of Covid19 cases and bad outcomes from this borough.

  1. Unfortunately these people won’t learn until it’s too late. There is little that can be done.

I reckon you are right. From what I’m hearing the remaining 17% of Newham that is White British are doing their best to follow social distancing guidance, it’s everyone else who is not. It’s a damn shame about any future loss of life there in Newham but it will be the result of the idiocies of many of those who live there.

  2. Here’s the sadder part: whilst I can’t be sure does anyone want to bet against the 17% White British being on average older and therefore more likely to succumb if infected than the (typically) younger “immigrant” population.
Thus whilst it may be a Covid19 “hotspot” it may not be those that are ignoring the rules who pay the price for their disdain.
