And About Time Too!

The flag of the Hezbollah Islamic terror group, a group now thankfully completely banned in Germany.

At last, it may have taken some time, too long many will say, but Germany has finally got around to doing the correct thing and banning all flavours, both political and military, of the Hezbollah Islamic terror group.

Breitbart said:

Germany on Thursday announced it officially recognizes all of Hezbollah, and not just its military wing, as a terrorist organization, marking a departure from its previous position which was in line with the EU.

Hezbollah activities “violate criminal law and the organization opposes the concept of international understanding,” German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer said in a statement. Germany, like most of Europe, has until now dragged its feet in outlawing both the military and political arms of the Lebanon-based group out of concerns this would harm relations with Beirut.

The U.S., UK, Netherlands and Israel designates the group in its entirety a terror organization.

Breitbart then went on to detail how the German police have wasted no time in cracking down on Hezbollah. They said that German police had carried out raids on Hezbollah linked mosques and residences known to the police for Hezbollah activity.

It appears to be the case that the raids and the announcement were may well have been timed to coincide with one another, with Hezbollah supporters getting picked up at the same or similar time to the announcement from the German Interior Minister. This looks like a wise move to have made. It stops Hezbollah activists in Germany from destroying evidence that may have linked them to Islamic terror activities and hopefully will curtail the activities of Hezbollah in Germany.

It’s not often that I get the chance to say ‘Well done Germany’ but on this occasion I find I must. Hezbollah has been allowed to lurk unmolested in Europe for far too long. I hope this raid marks the start of the Germans doing what they need to do and cracking down heavily on the Islamic extremism that has been allowed to take root in Germany.

  1. Well done Germany!
But support for extremism is still mainly based in and financed from the UK – see Melanie Phillips book “Londonistan” for an expose of the disgraceful ignorance, stupidity & complicity of our politicians and security services since 9/11.

  2. The Gatestone Institute has a posting by Soeren Kern on 2nd May which sees it as only a partial ban on Hezbollah.
    What’s your take on this?

I’ve had a quick skim read of the article and it seems that the Germans have left themselves some political wriggle room by having an ‘activity ban’ rather than complete prohibition, possibly to not damage relations between Germany and the Lebanon. This ‘activity ban’ will curtail some Hezbollah activity and the fact that the Germans are raiding mosques (something that should be done more in the UK) is a good thing but I would prefer a full ban as it sends a symbolic message that the savages of Hezbollah will not e tolerated. The problem is with groups like Hezbollah and the partial ban is that they could just do what Al Majouroon did in the UK and just change their name whilst keeping the same personnel and same policies.
