Parler is back.

The free speech social media platform Parler that was taken off air in January after it was somewhat unfairly blamed for the January 6th incident at the US Capitol building, has returned. It has a new host and to a large extent new management.

The site is still pretty shaky at present and only previously registered users can get onto it although it is being opened up to new users in the next week or so when things settle down a bit. I welcome the return of Parler as any competition to the Big Tech platforms is to be welcomed.

I’m not going to get involved in any arguments about which of the major alt tech platforms, Gab or Parler are ‘best’ as they both have their own advantages and disadvantages in my view. There are some things that Gab does very well and other things that could be improved, such as allowing individual users, not just admins, to mute disruptors in Groups. However there are also sometings that Parler does well such as its very clean interface although it can be a little clunky at times.

The return of Parler will, as could be expected, bring out the lunatic and censorious Left who want there to be no competition to Big Tech and will no doubt soon be screaming for Parler to be shut down again. These Leftists should be peacefully countered as in my view the greater the diversity of opinion out there the better.

It only remains for me to say ‘Welcome Back Parler’.

    Minor clarification, if I may.
“…. The censorious left who want no competition to the censorious left ….”.
