Illegal migrant boat sinking. It’s not entirely the fault of the French.

The sinking of a boatload of illegal migrants headed for the UK was something that was almost bound to happen at some point. At the time of writing it appears that at least 27 illegals have drowned in the English Channel after setting off from France. The response to this incident has been markedly different between the political great and good and the ordinary British bod on social media. The political classes and the open borders activists have been wringing their hands over this tragedy whilst the ordinary British bod appears to be much more interested in blaming Boris Johnson’s government for not dealing with the illegal invasion problem earlier. What there does not seem to be out there is much sympathy from ordinary Britons for the illegals who drowned, which I suppose comes from the general public being fed up with excessive levels of and inappropriate types of immigration to the UK.

Some in politics are keen to blame the French and to a certain extent they are correct to do so. After all there have been many news reports of French police just standing there whilst illegals launch dinghies into the Channel. However the French have done a bit more when it comes to countering smuggling gangs then the UK government has done. They are arresting people smugglers but the problem is that the business is so lucrative that new operators arise to take the place of those who are arrested.

Whilst acknowledging that French have done both good and bad when it comes to acting against the invasion of illegal migrants, not enough attention seems to be being paid to dealing with the pull factors on the UK side. These illegals, even if they do have valid claims for asylum, which I don’t believe that many will genuinely have as if they were in immediate danger then they would be therefore safe in any EU nation, are coming to the UK because it is advantageous to do so.

Unless Britain addresses the pull factors that attract these illegals to the UK then the problem will continue. These illegals know that as soon as they set foot on British soil they are set up for life. In the short term they will be given welfare and accommodation and even if they can’t get to suck on the teat of a welfare system that they have not contributed to by fair means or foul, they can disappear into the UK’s Black or Grey economy. There they can earn tax free money in nail bars, car washes, as minicab drivers or on farms or in warehouses or in takeaway food shops. A lot of these businesses are run by the nationals of those who hail from similar nations as the illegals and who are more than willing to turn a blind eye to the idea of employing illegals because it pays to do so.

Then there is the reputation that Britain has got of the country that you cannot be deported from. Even if an illegal is identified by the authorities then the process to deport them is long, slow and ineffectual. In addition to these problems there are a whole bunch of activist left wing lawyers who will use legal aid to do their utmost to keep the illegal in the UK. We have got some inkling into how lax the immigration and removals system is from the case of the Liverpool hospital bomber. This particular unwanted bastard who had a record of mental health problems and violence was refused leave to remain in the UK but he stayed anyway. He pretended to convert to Christianity but carried on attending mosques right up until the time that he reverted to type and blew himself up outside of the Liverpool Hospital for Women and Babies. This was just one example of an unwanted migrant remaining in the UK but there are many more, including the Reading Jihad stabber who was another illegal who should not have been here.

I, along with many other Britons, don’t want these illegals in the UK. The majority of them are going to be a burden whilst some are going to be extremely dangerous whether that be through crime or Islamic terrorism. We cannot entirely trust or rely on the French to stop these illegals as for the French allowing them to leave for the UK removes a problem that has brought nothing but immiseration for the people of French towns and cities on the Channel coast. What we do need to do is become much less welcoming for those who cross even if it means abrogating from international conventions such as the Statelessness and Refugee Conventions. We must stop funding and housing those who enter the country illegally and the Government should stop listening to the open borders and ‘refugees welcome’ fanatics whose members very rarely have to live with the problems that their ‘refugee’ pets cause. There must also be a legal presumption of refusal of entry or of entertaining asylum applications for those who arrive in the UK illegally. The UK also needs to up its deportation game as this will send a message to the invaders that if you enter the UK illegally then you will not be allowed to stay.

We should really have taken note of how the Australians dealt with the problem of seaborne illegal invaders and not allowed the illegals to gain a foothold in Britain as well as denying those who arrived illegally entry to the UK. The problem is that Britain has not taken sensible and much needed and desired steps to curb the illegal invasion both through political inertia and through having government departments such as the Home Office that are now plainly and clearly dysfunctional.

  1. It’s almost as if someone in or behind government, pulling the strings, wants the invasion to continue. But that would be illegal and anti-democratic – who could it be?

For your answer to that question I suggest that you look at the civil servants who work in the Home Office.

  2. It’s terrible to see such a loss of life but the first duty of our government is defense of the realm and they are just not carrying out that duty. How should it be done is not a question for us ordinary plebs but rests with those who have sought high office on the pretence they were able to carry out that office. My sympathy unfortunately doesn’t extend to the 90% + of those seeking to invade our country just to access our benefit system and yes having seen the specimens lurking in France and trying to get to UK a good 90% + are just out for what they can get for nothing. Getting into UK is all too often seen as having made it to the land of endless benefits and in all too many cases a place where you can prey on British girls with impunity to your hearts content.

It is indeed a terrible loss of life, but it was somewhat expected. I said years ago that unless hard interdiction was used to defend the UK from those who wish to enter the UK illegally via the English Channel then the situation would get worse. I agree with you that the first duty of a government is to defend the realm which this government doesn’t really seem to be doing.

The real vulnerable refugees are languishing in refugee camps near to war zones but it is the sharp elbowed privileged ones who are making their way across the EU to the UK. I don’t know how true it is but I’m hearing that a lot of the Calais chancers are those who have had asylum applications refused by places like Germany.
