More deaths caused by unimpeded people traffickers

Another boatload of illegal migrants has sunk in the English Channel and as a result some of the migrants have died. This is a sad but predictable consequence of both the UK and the French governments failure to properly and effectively crack down on people traffickers.

Economic migrants have paid thousands upon thousands of pounds each to traffickers in order to cross the Channel from France to the United Kingdom. They cross the Channel in order to get to a country that is now perceived as being too weak, feeble and enslaved by sometimes outdated international refugee laws, to deport from Britain those who should not be there and have no right to come to the UK.

The people traffickers seem to be able to work with complete impunity in France with seemingly no attempt made by French authorities to impede the activities of those who are taking thousands of pounds from migrants in order for them to make the small boat crossing. Britain’s response has not been to immediately return to France the illegals that are picked up in British waters, but to bring them to the UK and put them up in hotels, often luxurious ones where the cost per night would be out of reach for quite a few hard working Britons. People in towns and cities up and down the UK are often waking up to find that the Government has contracted a local hotel to house un-vetted illegal migrants in their area. This influx of mostly male chancers has brought a great deal of problems to wherever these illegal migrants have been dumped. I’m increasingly seeing reports on social media of illegals approaching young girls in frightening and obviously sexual manners and of rises in petty crime and antisocial behaviour wherever these illegals are dumped by the Government. There have also been claims that householders in places on the South Coast of England who are ‘tooling up’ with makeshift weapons because of their fear of the illegals and a lack of faith that their local police forces will protect them from the invaders.

These problems, the crime, disorder and religious extremism that have been brought to Britain by the illegals and the deaths of migrants in the Channel, could all have been avoided had the Government of the UK and the Government of France dealt with this problem at an earlier stage. It was plainly obvious that a failure to turn back the boats along with Britain’s over generous asylum system coupled with Britain being a nation that showers migrants with help and benefits would merely encourage more illegals. The pull factor of Britain is now so great that people will pay enormous sums to get into the UK illegally. The Channel boat invasion problem should have been dealt with when it first started out, even if that ran the risk of death for some migrants from a hard interdiction policy towards the small boats. Because it was not dealt with when it first occurred the problem has continued to get worse.

Because the problem has been allowed to fester and get worse the number of illegals making the Channel crossing has increased. This increases the problems that the often hard pressed communities such as Skegness have to face from their dumped illegals and also increases the risk of deaths of illegals at sea.

The online Left are bleating loudly about how the only way to prevent the problem of dangerous Channel crossings is to open up ‘safe, legal routes for asylum’. Sadly they are wrong. Going down this path would merely provide an easier route for back door mass immigration, the only difference being is that the illegals would fly in rather than cross the Channel in small boats. The only way out of this problem as I see it is to reduce the pull factor of housing and benefits for so called asylum seekers and to institute a policy stating clearly that the sort of chancers who will pay thousands for a crack at entering the UK, will not be allowed to stay in Britain if they arrive illegally.

Much that is bad could have been prevented had the Tory government did what they should have done and protected Britain’s borders. Both the massive disruption and crime brought to Britain by the illegals and the deaths that occur during illegal Channel crossings might have been avoided had dealt with the problem of people trafficking and illegal entry to the UK. Unfortunately that’s not what happened. Successive Tory governments spoke the right words about illegal immigration but failed to put those words into action.

Ultimately the deaths in the Channel are the fault of the people traffickers and those who chose to get on rickety boats and cross one of the busiest sea lanes in the world. However blame must be shared by a Conservative government who did the square root of bugger all, apart from spread the illegal migrant problems around the country, to prevent illegal entry via Britain’s very vulnerable southern border.

  1. Why should France do anything to stop the illegal migrants? They have more than enough of their own. Look at the illegal camps in Paris and other big towns. The more shipped to the UK, the better, in their eyes.

  2. I do have to wonder if the prospect of Christmas in a nice warm hotel with no housing bills, no heating bills, no food bills, no council tax bills, free healthcare, free dental care, free education plus free pocket money had anything to do with this? If my local hotel is anything to go by this happy tax payer funded life can go on for over 2 years to my certain knowledge, just wondering that’s all.
