Nineteen years ago a group of Islamic savages set off a series of bombs on London’s transport system. 52 innocent people were murdered by these Islamic savages and more than 700 were injured with many more probably suffering long term distress from what they saw and experienced.
On other anniversaries of this terrible day I’ve recounted how I had a lucky escape and how it affected me as I was working in Westminster that day.
However on this anniversary I want to speak of the mealy mouthed way that establishment politicians have marked this day. None of them from the new Prime Minister downwards have had the guts to state why these innocent people killed and what ideology the murderers were following and which propelled them to kill.
None of these cowardly establishment types have said the words ‘radical’ or ‘Islam’. We’ve had the use of the words ‘bombing’ and ‘terrorist attack’ and obsequious and obscuring phrases such as ‘those who lost their lives’ from those in authority who are marking the anniversary. This is shameful cowardice. People didn’t ‘lose their lives’ because of some accident or natural disaster, they were killed, killed by Muslims undertaking Jihad.
The failure to be honest about what and who killed 52 people and injured many more is cowardice, utterly disgusting cowardice. It’s like our establishment is going out of its way to not offend Muslims in any way, even those Muslims who support those who hanker after wearing a sweating kinetic backpack. Our politicians should be saying the name of the ideology that murdered and maimed Britons not just on 7/7 but in other Islamist terror attacks. But they don’t. They use weasel words or express faux sympathy whilst failing to even begin to grasp the problems caused by Islamic extremism or even recognise it as the threat it is.
We should remember those who died or were wounded or carry with them the psychological scars of the 7/7 attack, but we should also not forget that it was individuals following the ideology of Islam that murdered and maimed so many innocent people. We the people should remember these facts because our political establisment clearly will not.
