Our Parliament in Britain is not yet a complete confederacy of dunces. Yes there are a lot of these dunces, the Dunning-Kruger sector of our legislature if I may put it that way but there are some politicians in both the House of Commons and the House of Lords who are not at all like that.
One of the British politicians that I find more admirable is Baroness Fox of Buckley a lady who has made a great journey from socialism to being broadly libertarian on some issues such as freedom of speech. Her Ladyship has done Britons a very great service by standing up for freedom of expression and against censorship and the right of Britons to govern themselves outside of supranational organisations such as the EU.
Recently Baroness Fox has contributed to a House of Lords debate, initiated by the Liberal Democrat Party on the subject of misinformation and disinformation. Her Ladyship knocked the ball right out of the park with her contribution to the debate pointing out that it has been the British state which have encouraged misinformation and disinformation by their own acts of censorship and the massaging of news in order for it to be compliant with the Establishment’s ideologies.
Her Ladyship has a very good point here. Is it not misinformation and disinformation for the political classes to play down or deny the existence of Rape Gangs or the now very visible failures of Net Zero or to badger the survivors and relatives of those caught up in Islamic terror attacks or migrant crime to say nice things about ‘diversity’? Is it not misinformation and disinformation by the Government to feed us all information that is radically different from what we see with our own damn eyes? Most of us, even the most reasonable in the ‘man on the Clapham Omnibus’ way person, can see that for example some sorts of diversity are really not a strength despite the government telling us that it is. When the information put out by the State or sanctioned by the State differs so wildly from the reality in front of us then surely this is some form of disinformation?
Here’s Baroness Fox’s brilliant video from the House of Lords

It certainly was an excellent speech…too bad her delivery was less than attention grabbing – there seemed to be rather more yawns than the material deserved.
Perhaps the Baroness should consider ‘hiring’ someone to portray Her Ladyship next time – such a deserving speech might well have ‘gone viral’ if given by someone like the young lady from this video:

Now I think of it – I would absolutely love for an AI creator to put the Baroness’s words in Amelia’s mouth! That would be an attention getting speech!!!
I didn’t find anything wrong with Her Ladyship’s delivery of this speech. Remember she’s probably time limited in how long she can speak in the Chamber and she had an awful lot that she needed to get over to the other Peers. BTW I’ve visited the House of Lords for debates years ago and I learned that some Peers can look like they are nodding but they are not and are deep in concentration on what the speaker is saying.
