Sarah Helm the wife of Jonathan Powell, Britain’s National Security Advisor, has recently been told by the Metropolitan Police that there will be no action taken against her because of her writing which suggested support for both Hamas and the banned ‘Palestine Action’ group. Being so close to the centre of power I didn’t expect Ms Helm to be dragged through the courts like a normal plebeian Briton would be. And so it came to pass that the Metropolitan Police miraculously found that Ms Helm’s words had not met the ‘criminal standard’.
However, this sort of choice of words by Ms Helm is not either an uncommon nor a recent occurrence. According to Andrew Gilligan’s article in The Spectator magazine, Ms Helm comes across like someone who is deranged in their hatred of the State of Israel.
Mr Gilligan said that there’s much more than Ms Helm’s recent outburst that got the Met temporarily interested.
Mr Gilligan said:
The Spectator can reveal that there is vastly more material, far more controversial than this, in Helm’s tweets. Helm has defended Hamas, questioned reports of mass rape by the terror group, blamed the 7 October attacks on the creation of Israel in 1948, compared Israel to the Nazis, and appeared to praise Syria’s then dictator Bashar al-Assad for remarks in which he had called the Jewish state an ‘outlaw colonial entity’ populated by ‘herds of settlers that are closer to barbarism than to humanity.’
Mr Gilligan then went onto reveal the details of Ms Helm’s support for Hamas and the rest of her utterly deranged hatred of Israel. Reading what she has written it seems to me that she’s totally lost the plot. If this was a person who was of no consequence, just one of the many arseholes who hate Israel because they’ve been told to but who have no wider influence, then that’s one thing. But, having such an arsehole so close to the centre of Government is making me wonder just what sort of influence does she have on Government what with her husband being National Security Advisor and all that?
There’s a massive stench of two tier in this case as I said yesterday. Supporting Hamas is a crime in Britain and so is inviting support for Hamas and some in Britain have been arrested and convicted of such support. Why not Ms Helm? I must admit that with the sort of lengthy record of Israel hating and Hamas cheering nutbaggery that she has it makes me wonder why she’s not got what others have got from the Criminal Justice system for her actions and her choice of causes to support?
