Locals not happy with Islam in Sydney

The 'Mohammed' sign at a mosque in Sydney that has wound local people up somewhat.

When any new group moves into an area, especially when they move in large numbers, there can sometimes be tension between the newcomers and the locals. This is something that many groups that have migrated have experienced and I doubt very much that if you dug into the family stories of former migrants such as Germans, Italians, Jews, West Indians etc that you would not find some tale of tension or hostility between the newcomer group and the indigenous group.

The usual way to deal with this sort of hostility is by recognising that this problem is often a two way street. There can sometimes be wariness on both sides. It also takes the indigenous population a little time to establish that the newcomer group doesn’t pose a threat to them and the incoming group also needs to do their damned best to fit in with the host society in order gain acceptance. This ‘don’t piss off the natives or you will make them hate us’ tactic has been highly successful in the past and has been practised by a variety of migrant groups over the years, with one glaring exception that of Islam and its followers.

Whereas most migrant groups in the past such as those Germans, Italians and Jews etc mentioned above, just wanted to be left alone in peace, in some cases thankful that there no longer being oppressed in their original homelands, Islam seems intent on making itself and its followers hated. Islamic communities and Islamic institutions often go out of their way to make both Muslims and Islam disliked by engaging in acts of dishonesty (never a good way to gain trust) and outrageous religious willy-waving of a sort that has cropped up in Sydney, Australia.

According to a report in the London Daily Mail, a mosque in a Western suburb of Sydney decided to place a large sign outside is building reading ‘there is no god but allah and Mohammed is his prophet’. This phrase is the Islamic declaration of faith and the foundation for Islam’s numerous religious wars with non Muslims. It is an arrogant slogan and whilst it would be relatively non controversial if displayed inside the building, when it is displayed outside it gives the appearance of religious supremacism, especially when done in a nation built on a foundation of Judaeo-Christian values.

Naturally when local people, in an area already allegedly suffering from Islamification, see this large and arrogant notice, they get angry and non Muslim residents have taken to social media to express their concern about this notice and what it represents. Anger expressed about the sign and its meanings prompted others to tell their tales of Islamic woe in Australia with people complaining that Islam had made them feel like a stranger in their own country, a phenomenon that seems to occur in whatever part of the world Islam settles in.

The fact that the mosque thought that this sign was acceptable for the exterior tells us a lot about Islam’s fascistic and supremacist heart. It tells us that those running Islamic institutions in this area do not give a toss about anybody else who may happen to live in the area, and that the non Muslims are merely ‘kufar’ who need not be considered. I can’t imagine doing something like this myself if I was a migrant to another country because I know it would make my life and that of my family much more difficult. For example: I believe that there is one god and one god alone, with no progenitor, consort or descendants, but I would not put a sign on my place or worship that waved that statement in the faces of those who believe differently to me. Such an action, if done in an area that believed in a different religious philosophy, could endanger me and mine because it would piss people off. I may have the legal right to display such a statement, but to do so would not be walking the path of peace.

Here’s part of the Daily Mail article on the justifiable objections to the sign on this Sydney mosque:

The Daily Mail said:

A man has taken to social media after he was offended seeing a sign reading ‘there is no God but Allah’ on a western Sydney mosque.

Going by the name ‘Joshua Fln’ the man took to Facebook to show a photo of the sign he took in Lakemba.

‘Took this photo in Bankstown I know it’s full of Muslims but don’t bring this sign and s**t too [sic] Australia f**kin hang the s**t up in your room not in public,’ he posted, accompanied by three photos of the sign.

A sign on the mosque reads in all capital letters: ‘There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger’.

A woman Tina Sinsbury commented on the post saying ‘they pretty much run all those areas now’.

The man said he ‘got stared at like no other going down that street cause [sic] I was white’.

It’s actually really sad we’re made to not feel welcome in our own dam [sic] country,’ the woman replied.

What the mosque has done by erecting this sign is to go out of their way to get up the noses of locals by imposing their minority religious views on the public sphere to a greater extend than was acceptable to the public. These Sydney Muslims have forgotten or disregarded the golden rule of living as a minority a rule learned by many groups over the years and and often at great cost. This rule is that you, the newcomer, do your level best to live in peace with your majority neighbours and extend the hand of friendship towards them in the hope that this hand will be grasped. By erecting this sign these Muslims have not done this and have increased the tensions and increased the public dislike of Islam and Muslims.

The case of the Mohammed sign in Australia is a prime example of how conflict between Islam and non believers in Western nations has not been caused by the host community but by Islam and its followers themselves. There are many Western nations that have extended the hand of friendship to the followers of Islam only to have that proffered hand swiftly bitten off. The fact that these Muslims in Sydney could not see that this sign may be problematic and moved it inside shows us the sheer unadulterated arrogance of Islam. This case also shows us that far from being a peaceful faith like so many other faiths, Islam is a political religious ideology that is bringing conflict with it. We in the West didn’t start the hatred between Muslim and non Muslims, we tried to be friends but it is difficult to be friends with those who despise us, our cultures and our nations. This mosque is not promoting peace or harmony, it is fomenting the sort of religious conflicts that cannot but end badly.

  1. I noted that some commenting on the Daily Mail article equated Allah with non-Muslim ideas of God, evidently unaware of Allah’s hostility and ill-design toward non-Muslims.

Yes I notice that as well. I also despise the use ofthe term ‘Abrahamic Faith’ to describe Islam. Not only is there only a very tenuous link with Islam with the claiming of that ‘wild donkey of a man’ Ishmael as the ultimate founder of thier religious line but also because the core values and morals of Islam are so radically different from Christianity and Judaism.
