It looks as if I may well have been correct – Punish a Muslim day suspect could well be a lone nutter

One of the Punish a Muslim Day letters that David Parnham of Lincoln has pleaded guilty to sending

As I predicted when the ‘Punish a Muslim Day’ poison pen letters story broke back in March, the alleged perpetrator for this incident is likely to be what could reasonably be termed a lone nutter or at the very worst a lone disturbed and angry individual. Now, charges have been laid against the man and we start to get some more idea about the case and what aspects of it the Crown seem most interested in pursuing.

The sending of the letters really doesn’t look to be the work of a large organised group, that has been plain from the start due to the sloppy nature of the letters themselves and this assumption appears to be confirmed by the fact that only one person has been charged over this matter. The accused man, David Parnham aged 35 from Lincoln has been held respectively by Lincolnshire and West Yorkshire Police since Tuesday. There has been plenty of time for him to crumble in the face of interrogation and name any accomplices, but so far this does not seem to have happened, despite a police custody extension being granted to the police by a magistrate to allow them to hold Mr Parnham longer.

According to a report carried by Sky News Mr Parnham is charged with 14 separate offences. As is usual policy for this blog the original report is in italics whereas my comments are in italics.

Sky News said:

David Parnham, from Lincoln, is accused of 14 offences including one count of soliciting to murder.

Obviously Mr Parnham will be tried at the Crown Court for these charges and it is a case that will be worth keeping an eye on. The soliciting for murder charge is serious but it will be interesting to see how the Crown prosecutes this charge on the indictment. Will for example there be questions about how credible these alleged threats are bearing in mind the shockingly amateurish way that the letters were constructed? Would the mythical man on the Clapham Omnibus take this sort of threat seriously or would they just bin and go ‘Meh!!’ is one aspect of this charge that might be worth looking at? Personally I would have binned such a letter if I had received it, laughed at it and probably taken the piss out of it online.

He is also charged with two counts of sending a number of racist letters promoting a ‘Punish A Muslim Day’, to be held on 3 April 2018.

‘Racist letters’ – Sounds like a non-crime to me, reminiscent of the sort of ‘offences’ that used to get Soviet citizens chucked in a gulag. It’s the usual hate speech guff. Just as citizens of the former USSR used to get banged up for possessing a article of ‘anti Soviet writing’ so Britons get banged up for being critical of members of various groups, including being critical of Islam, which is not a race. For the record, I see racist stuff aimed at me and mine all the time and I either bin it if it is physical or mute or block the sender or the promoter of the stuff if it is online. I’m surprised to see only two counts of this as there were more than two letters sent out if I recall. Maybe the Crown’s case is stronger on two of the counts than it is on others or they are indicting the man on specimen charges? Or maybe not all the letters were the same as the one being hawked round by the Left-leaning media?

The 35-year-old further faces five counts of sending a substance with the intention of inducing in a person a belief that it is likely to contain a noxious substance, five counts of sending a number of letters conveying a threat and one count of making a bomb hoax.

The hoax bomb threat and the hoax noxious substance charges look to me, along with the ‘solicit to murder’ charge, the most serious of the lot. The 2001 Anti Terror Act treats these hoaxes very seriously and authorises the courts to impose a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment on those who are convicted on indictment. The ‘threatening letters’ charge is a ‘catch all’ charge, probably made under the provisions of the The Malicious Communications Act 1988 section 1 which covers things like poison pen letters.

I’m a little surprised that this person has not, at the time of writing been charged with ‘threat to kill’ as well as with ‘soliciting murder’? This makes me wonder whether the Crown may be concerned that the amateurish nature of these letters would cause a jury to believe that the threat was not credible and the Crown may lose this one? It is of course possible that now that these initial charges have been laid before the defendant, other charges may follow. This is, as stated earlier, going to be an interesting case to watch.

Sky News said that Mr Parnham will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court later. This leads me to believe that he may well be tried in London rather than in one of the areas where these alleged offences may have been committed in. It needs to be emphasised at this point that under British law Mr Parnham must be considered as innocent until proven guilty. He has not yet appeared before the court and neither has he indicated whether he will be pleading guilty or not guilty.

As I have said in previous articles and commentary that I have made on the subject of these ‘Punish a Muslim Day’ letters, whoever did it did a really stupid and counterproductive thing. This sort of thing cannot be condoned or excused although the underlying current of anger at what Islam is doing to our nation, an anger that is starting to sweep the country, is very easy to understand. Doing stupid things like this affects people of Muslim background who may have nothing to do with jihad or the Islamic Rape Gangs and also affects those who give the outward appearance of being Muslim (dress etc) but are screaming inside to get away from this death cult. These sort of actions also feed the false Islamic grievance narrative something amply demonstrated in the way that the Tell Mama group (currently in receipt of £1.9 M of public money courtesy of Sajid Javid’s old govt department) who flogged this story to death with all the enthusiasm displayed by a Saudi headchopper who loves his job. This group built this story into something that it is looking likely to be much less than what they treated it as. Tell Mama were instrumental in pushing round the story to make it look as if it was Muslims in danger from us, rather than the reality, which is that aggression is more often than not coming from Muslims to non-Muslims. It appears that an enormous amount of police resources seems to have been splurged on this case, resources that may have been better spent on going after the tens of thousands of Islamic extremists and potentially self detonating Muslims who have been allowed to metatstasize on our Islands.

I love your new portmanteau word combining “omnibus” and “mini-bus”: I am looking forward to seeing the “Clapham Omini-bus” in service soon, and hearing the reaction of the mythical man on it to his new mode of conveyance…..
