I’ve had a ‘digital’ visit from what I believe is a very PC PC plod

Yeah right! Time for the Met to concentrate on all the violence in London not some presumably iffy 'hate speech' 'offence'

Earlier on this afternoon I received an email from an officer of the Metropolitan Police who said that they were investigating an offence and needed my help in order to proceed with the investigation. As you can see from my reply to the officer (below the original email) I have refused to be interviewed and have given my grounds for doing so. I suspect that this isn’t an investigation into a real crime where real damage has been done to either persons or property but is instead yet another dubious ‘hate crime’ investigation. If it is what I suspect it to be, a ‘hate speech’ investigation then I will not assist the police owing to my disgust at ‘hate speech’ laws and how these laws have almost totally eviscerated the free speech rights of Britons.

Here is the original email from Met Police

Good afternoon,

I am an officer from the Metropolitan Police Service, I am emailing you in regards to an investigation I am leading.

An interview with yourself is required to progress the investigation. It would be easiest for us to arrange a time and date to conduct the interview at your home address, so please let me know if this would be possible. Alternatively you can provide me a phone number to call you on.

I look forward to your response, thank you.

Regards,

PC Cxxxxxxxxxx

This is my response….

Dear PC Cxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your email dated the 24th September 2019. Well done for becoming a police officer, a once admirable profession that seems to have lately, due to police ineptitude and politicisation, lost much of the lustre it once had. I’m afraid I shall not be able to assist you with your enquiries, not today or any day and this is for the following reasons.

Firstly, I’m not in the habit of helping police officers who do not state what case or sort of case they are investigating.

Secondly, as you are from London’s Metropolitan Police, a force mired in political correctness, I suspect that the case that you are investigating may be related to one of Britain’s ‘hate speech’ laws.

I also suspect that you want my help dragging some poor soul who has engaged in ‘wrongthink’ through the courts. Sorry but I cannot help you in this area. I’m in favour of free speech and not ‘hate speech’ laws. I will not be a party to your force or any other British force using the law to shut down an individual’s G-d given right to have an opinion and express it.

Thirdly you may have noticed that this site is not hosted in the UK but instead in the United States where the First Amendment of the Constitution governs matters of speech. I suspect that the case that you may be working on may not meet the threshold of prohibited speech as the US Supreme Court has decided it is and writing, no matter how much a Briton may be offended by it, is considered as protected speech.

Finally, several decades ago when I joined a journalists trade union I swore a personal oath not to disclose any details about any information I may have received from confidential contacts or breach a journalistic confidence. Although I have not been a member of that trade union for many years, I still consider myself as bound to that oath.

As regards your request for an interview and I noticed that it is a request and not a matter of compulsion, I’m afraid the answer is no. As this is a request a refusal of an interview is I believe within my rights. Are you familiar with the children’s book ‘Green Eggs and Ham’? If so this will explain my position.

You cannot interview me at my house

You cannot interview me with a legally qualified mouse

You cannot interview me on the phone and

definitely not within my home.

I’m not going to be interviewed here or there

I refuse to be voluntarily interviewed anywhere.

Because even worse than Green Eggs and Ham

Is this this sort of ‘fishing expedition’ police spam.

Therefore I must politely and firmly inform you that I will not be taking part in any interviews and also that both the public and some legally qualified and experienced associates will be watching. Please do not contact me again, unless it is with regards to a real crime, you know the robberies and stabbings and gun crime that afflicts your force’s area with alarming regularity. As I said earlier I suspect that rather than a real crime this is some murky attempt to use ‘hate speech’ laws to intimidate some British subject into silence over this or that issue or because someone was ‘offended’ either personally or vicariously.

Best regards

Thank you for the compliment. I suspect that there is no real crime attached to this request at all, it’s probably all related to some nonsense ‘speech crime’ thing. I will not assist the police in these matters or help in the criminalisation of speech.

  1. They are using a tactic that relies on your curiosity to bring about your involvement, hence the reason why they haven’t mentioned what the alleged crime is. Similarly, they know the supposed crime isn’t really a crime and any basic investigation into your background or on-line activity will reveal to them where your thoughts, principles and morals lie, which clearly isn’t likely to be in line with their investigation.

Well done for not taking the bait. Personally, I would have just ignored the request and not engaged with them at all.

I did briefly consider just not engaging with them but knowing that this is likely to be complete bollocks I thought that I’d tell them to ‘go forth and multiply’
