The Law Lords have spoken

Current justices of the UK Supreme Court

The Law Lords have at last spoken their judgement on the Gina Miller case that Parliament had been suspended illegally and that Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s advice to Her Majesty the Queen that Parliament should be suspended was also unlawful. The Supreme Court has decided that the decision of the Prime Minister to prorogue Parliament interfered with the right of the legislature to hold the executive to account.

Unless Mr Johnson and Mr Dominic Cummings are playing some sort of 4D chess here, I can’t see how it can be anything but disastrous for the Prime Minister. The Remainers, in their efforts to frustrate the Brexit that 17+ million of us freely and knowingly voted for, will now see Parliament reconvened at the earliest opportunity. The Remainers in Parliament, who are tossing aside the democratic decision of Britons, like a used piece of toilet roll, will now be able to engaged in yet more legislative shenanigans to either stop or water down Brexit. In their quest for a means to thwart the democratic will, the Remainers will, whether we leave the EU or not, with a mythical ‘deal’ or as a free nation trading under WTO rules, have maybe mortally wounded the British constitution in the process.

Mr Johnson is going to have to go hell for leather now to try to fend of the treasonous Remainers in Parliament and get the Brexit that we, the majority, all voted for. If he can hold out and outmanoeuvre the Brussels/Berlin fifth column that is spread across all Parliamentary parties, until October 31st, then he will have succeeded in defending both what the electorate voted for but also the sanctity of democracy itself. If Mr Johnson does get us out of the EU Empire and is returned to Parliament with a healthy majority, then one of his first major tasks, should be to revoke the Fixed Term Parliaments Act that has been used to such good effect by the Remainers to paralyse Parliament for their own benefit.

  1. So 12 Lefty judges in receipt of EU pensions vote to frustrate Brexit – I’m waiting to feel a sense of surprise, but – somehow – it just isn’t kicking-in…..
