What a difference. The BBC then and now

This post contains two BBC articles separated by almost eighty years. The first one is an audio recording of BBC reporter Charles Gardener’s coverage of a small number of Hurricane fighter planes taking on over 40 Luftwaffe aircraft over Dover. Mr Gardener got some criticism at the time for his broadcast from BBC bosses because he departed from the Corporation’s policy of impartiality and got excited at seeing Britain’s brave fighter pilots taking on the almost overwhelming might of the Third Reich. Despite the controversy, the broadcast went out and probably really helped morale in the UK at a time when Britain and its Empire stood alone against the Nazis. It’s a fascinating piece of audio history and one well worth listening to.

This broadcast was made at a time when although the BBC prized the impartiality that is part of its charter, it still supported Britain and its people.

Compare the above recording to the one below what the BBC put out regarding the vandalism of the Churchill statue in Parliament Square in London by a mob of BLM/Marxist thugs. This video pushes the myth of systemic racism in Britain and there was no attempt whatsoever at balance. One of the participants was allowed free reign to denigrate the man, who was it needs to be said was a product of his time, who led Britain to victory against a regime, the Nazis, that really did practise ‘systemic racism’.

Back in the days of World War II, the BBC was on the side of the British nation whilst at the same time guarding its independence. Now the BBC never seems to miss an opportunity to denigrate Britain, the people both Black and White who show loyalty to the nation and to the nation’s history.

If you ask me what sort of BBC would I want if I had to have it? Well I would want more of the 1940’s BBC which for all its faults did stand up for the nation and much less of the woke bollocks and Britain-hating that seems to characterise the modern BBC.

It’s time to Defund The BBC in order to get the sort of public service broadcaster that Britain really does deserve.

I wonder when the impartially of the BBC started to unravel. Was it immediately after WW2 or did it begin later, say in the 1980s? Personally I would love it to be sold off to Trumps business empire so he could drain this rancid swamp. It is ridiculous that in our mass media era there is still a state owned media outlet that charges us an annual fee whether we actually watch the BBC or not. Sell it off and abolish the license fee. Such a measure would benefit those in society at the bottom of the social/economic ladder the most. This alone would make Labour look awful if they whined about it in Parliament.
