If you’ve ever travelled around Britain you might have noticed that Britain has a problem with fly tipping. Nearly everywhere and anywhere can be afflicted by this problem and the piles of rubbish dumped by fly tippers is blighting place after place.
The problem is from what I can see getting worse every day. However Dr Richard North believes that government and especially EU policies that Britain has signed up for have made the problem worse than it might be. Over regulation of waste disposal by the British government has made disposing of waste an expensive, arduous and bureaucratic task Dr North’s article said. I must admit that I agree with him on this issue as I’m currently in the process of a major home improvement project and having limits on how many times I can visit the local tip and the need to pre-book ‘slots’ at the dump makes this project very much harder than it already is. The onerous guff that has been imposed on Britons who just want to dispose of their home or small business waste is so great that I can understand, if not condone, those who might be temped to ‘pay some pikey to take the rubbish away no questions asked.’
I agree with Dr North that the British government does need to make getting rid of waste easier and cheaper and maybe encourage the reuse of items such as wood or metal or appliances by allowing people to root around rubbish as they once were permitted to do.
