Rumours about the personal conduct of the comedian David Walliams have been circulating for a while now. Most of what I’ve heard concerns Mr Walliams allegedly using his fame to charm young women into bed which although it might be a bit sleazy is not illegal or dodgy.

However a YouTuber, Murad Merali, has come forward with some more concerning allegations about Mr Walliams including that Mr Walliams appeared ‘tumescent’ at a children’s literary event when Mr Walliams was surrounded by children. This YouTuber didn’t show the image of an allegedly tumescent Walliams on his channel but if it’s true and there’s no medical excuse such as priapism that could be used to explain this incident, then it looks rather a little iffy.

David Walliams is finding himself in water that appears to be rapidly heating up and projects and collaborations that he has been involved in are starting to distance themselves from Mr Walliams. He’s been dropped by his book publisher and the YouTuber mentioned above said that Mr Walliams had also been dropped from a film project that he was involved with. A theme park ride based on Mr Walliams’s books has also been swiftly shuttered. Another YouTuber Lauren the Insider has said that the BBC has also started to distance themselves from David Walliams.

There is no indication, denial or confirmation that Mr Walliams is the celebrity who I recently wrote about who is attempting to get a gagging order on the UK Press to stop them publishing the allegations that have been made against him. The celebrity applicant in this particular case is claiming that exposing these allegations to the public could create a suicide risk for him. We do not know at this stage whether the applicant for this gagging order is Mr Walliams or someone else and it would be legally dodgy for me to speculate too deeply about that no matter what other people are saying. Mr Walliams has allegedly denied the allegations levelled against him.

What’s clear though is that whilst the allegations against Mr Walliams are merely at this time allegations and could end up as a bit of a nothingburger, those who have in the past very closely associated themselves with Mr Walliams are starting to draw back from him. It feels like there’s a dam about to break over this case and when it does it’s going to be feeding frenzy time for the popular Press and those who once cleaved to Mr Walliams because of his fame and his talent might be looking for a way of polishing their own halos by disassociating themselves from him.

Mr Merali believes that this story will unfold over the course of a months but in my view it might break cover much earlier than that. It could break in weeks rather than months.
