The far Left – It’s changed from a political movement to a moral sickness.

As some of this blog’s more regular readers may know by now, I’m a former ‘man of the Left’. Over a long period of time, and as a result of overwhelming evidence, I came to realise that much of what the Left desires is either wrong, destructive, impractical, morally suspect or downright dangerous. Having moved away from the Left, I’ve come to realise that the sort of state which the Left wish to construct is not one of freedom or equality or where those in need are given assistance but instead one of oppression, of fear and of injustice. I find myself with little in common now with many of those who I associated with way back when, but occasionally I see some of my old comrades in social situations. When I see them I find myself shocked at how unrealistic their views are and how blindly they still follow their failed ideology.

Recently, I was at a social gathering, held at the heart of one of Britain’s more ‘Corbynesque’ areas where there were a lot of Lefties. Normally I’d be up for a bit of ‘Lefty deprogramming’ but this day, I really could not be arsed to have a row with anybody (I wasn’t in the mood), so I decided to keep schtum about politics, catch up with some old friends, and watch what happened. What I saw was confirmation, at least for me, that the left has caught a very bad dose of moral sickness. In one corner of the room I saw a man telling children that if they didn’t give money or time to the ‘Syrian’ refugees’ then they were as bad as Orban and might as well be putting up the barbed wire themselves. I was disgusted by this, as here was a Leftie, a man supposedly committed to the rights of the working classes, supporting the cause of those whose culture all too often turns working class areas in the UK into complete hell-holes. The talk among groups around the gathering was of ‘terrible Tory cuts’, of a reduction in funding for this or that Leftie make-work project, and the constant refrain of ‘the poor refugees’. It was also noticeable that very few of the Lefties at this gathering seemed to be working in the private sector, they were nearly all employed by the public sector.

What I saw was not the working class Left that I grew up with, instead it was an example of the middle-class Left. Quite frankly, this middle-class Left despise the British working classes and are quite happy to shout ‘bigot’ and ‘racist’ at working class Britons who object to the imposition of massive numbers of members of incompatible cultures being dumped on their traditional areas. These middle class Lefties used the language of traditional Lefties, such as equality, justice and freedom but were just as unsympathetic to the concerns of the British working classes as a harsh foreman of a 19th century mill would be to their workers. These middle-class Lefties have supported all the ‘diversity’ and social policies that have already caused so many problems in so many British towns and cities. However, because these Lefties earn ‘big bunce’ from their public sector jobs, they are often insulated from the problems that their own policies cause. Not for them the stress of living in an area dominated by Muslims either because they live outside these areas or they earn enough to not have to deal with the problems that occur. The middle-class Left can afford to send their children out of area for education, they have contacts in the health service and know the right buzz words to say, that allow them to get appropriate treatment when sick. The middle-class Left do not have to worry about whether their child will be safe and well educated in the local state school and nor do they have to worry that the local crappy NHS GP surgery is their only option for healthcare. The middle-class Left have more options than the average citizen.

The middle-class Left, of whom I saw plenty at the party, never seem to have to clean up the mess that they’ve made, nor do they seem inclined either to accept responsibility for the mess or suggest any practical method of cleaning up the mess. They don’t even say ‘sorry for inflicting thousands of Islamic ponces, rapists and terrorists on you’. The middle-class Left continue to bang their heads against the wall, even when it is very plain to see that it’s not a good idea to bang one’s head on a wall.

I came away from the party depressed that so little had been learned by these Lefties, and depressed also by the fact that they seemed even more ideologically driven than before. I felt in a way that I was the only sane person in a psychiatric ward full of raving lunatics. Unfortunately we are living in a period when these lunatics have the ear of those in power, and that is something that really needs to change.
